I'm rebuilding my Skidoo! This is a 2007 SkiDoo Renegade 800 PTEK HO (Rev). The sled has about 13000 miles on it and the engine decided to quit while I was out riding last year. I took it apart and found toasted pistons and crank bearings that pretty much disintegrated. This is the first video of the series where I am completely rebuilding this sled from the bottoms up.
I'm going to go through everything I find wrong with the sled in this video, then in the next the reassembly will begin.

Nice little project. I have an 07 GTX limited 800 ptek 3 seater with 8,700 miles never been rebuilt. I’m rebuilding the top end with the engine in chassis. Piston tops were covered in carbon but overall not bad shape. Reusing the cylinders as they are. Also putting on Boyesen rage cages 😎 Should be able to test fire this weekend - never rebuilt and engine before. Your videos have been helpful 💪🏿 😊

Nice! That’s a great sled. Good luck with the first startup! Let me know how things go. Hope they go well! I want to find out if there is some way to monitor how rich or lean the engine is.

Pretty cool seeing what one of them things are made of! I've never seen a snowmobile in person only on TV, pretty foreign to me!😊👍

They are pretty simple. An aluminum chassis and and engine with a fuel tank. Not much else! Fun and fast with 155hp

Track looks fine to me. Cords are gonna happen with that amount of mileage. I see zero reason to replace unless u got a ton of pull outs. I know these revs in and out and seen much worse tracks. Also throw on ultimax U3/U4 belt thank me later. Also I highly suggest clutch kit and y pipe and pipe. Also they make trail cans that are quite like dyno ports etc. the weight savings is huge on those as well. And of course check ur boggie wheels and bearings and buttons in primary and 2ndary. Check gears while apart and change chaincase fluid, if ur gonna have it tore apart do it right and do one time vs multiple times

Thanks. Glad to know. I can't find any pull outs so I should be good there. I got the BMP Y-pipe, but changing the pipe is a pain in NH. If it doesn't sound stock at all, they pull you over and check. I'll take a look at the dynoports. See if I can find one that works. I'll be tearing everything apart as you suggested and will do all those maintenance items.

Also FYI rotors rust from sitting no big deal. And also those bearing buddies burn sleds down a ton. Do not use !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And change ur brake fluid pronto ! Seen revs burn to ground from old fluid

I cannot tell u enough do not use bearing buddy

Alright. Is the bearing buddy just a cap that goes on top where the previous cover used to be? Can i just drop the other cover from my other engine on it? I read up on them after you suggested it. Seems like a good thing to go back to stock and just maintain it. Thanks for all these tips!
