Skiing Massanutten Resort in Virginia (4K)

My first time checking out the slopes at Massanutten Resort in Virginia on February 8, 2021. Filmed with a GoPro Hero7 Black in 4K.

Is it better or worse than wintergreen? I’m getting a little tired of the same old slopes and I’m not sure the drive to snowshoe is worth it.

Hey Luke, I wish I could give you better information, but unfortunately I'm from PA and that was my first time skiing in Virginia, so I'm not familiar with other resorts in the state. I would say this, my favorite spots in PA are Blue Mountain, Camelback and Elk Mountain. They're all bigger than Massanutten with more variety, better/faster lifts, etc. For me, it was a 3 hour drive to get there. I told all my friends who asked, if you're going there to enjoy the entire resort with friends or family, it's worth hitting the slopes for a day. But, I wouldn't drive 3 hours just to ski there when there are better options closer to me. Also, it would depend on your skill level. It's much more a beginner/intermediate mountain. The two "diamonds" aren't very challenging. On most mountains they'd just be higher end squares.

Go to timberline. It’s better than snowshoe and closer.

@@brotatochip7001 they have new owners. Lifts, lodge, and snowmaking are all new. I found the only two runs at snowshoe worth anything were western territory. The rest of the mountain is like 600 ft of vert.

If you ever do go back there’s a good “line” if you start on Massattack you can work your way across the mountain to the start of the lower terrain park and then ride that one lift all the way up. You’re right, not the greatest mountain for skiing, better to make a resort long weekend out of it and just get drunk with friends. But it’s decent for what it is and making the custom line through the trees towards the terrain park makes things fun for a day or 2
