Thank you for posting this. We have Hospice home care for our Mom but in between I am responsible for this procedure and though years ago I had some medical training, I needed a good refresher course! Very clear and informative! God bless you and all health care workers.

Thank you so much my mom was discharged from the hospital last night with an unexpected catheter for a week!! She’s 73 so we got her a walker to help her get around during major post op pain it also has racks that can hold the catheter bag. I had no idea how to empty this style but found you and your bag was the same thank you so much for the upload I now feel more confident and can also confidently show her how to empty if necessary during the night when we’re not there. Hospital should’ve let her stay one additional night so she could pee on her own and just manage pain at home but nope. They want you out before 24 hours now so holy 💩 put foley back in send her home at 23 hours and 59 minutes Lord forbid sad that facilitates run on insurance vs the patient these days Thank you again!!!!!

We had the same issue with my mom! I had to learn real quick how to empty it. I wish my mom was still mobile, as that would help alot, but that's OK! We do for our parents who did for us ❤ I'm so thankful for this video.

Hello .. 2 points I would use plastic bed pad on the floor just in case accidental spill that way you don’t have the urine going through the wet wash cloth and number two .. I never have seen pouring urine in the sink but toilet.. that is very unsanitary.

It's a good thing you have or this video out because it seems hospitals are sending patients home without caring if family members and caregivers know how to do this.

Fallon Collins she clearly stated that if you’re not able to pour / dispose it in a toilet you would let the test person know you’re aware where it goes but for testing you’ll pour it in the sink

Should you put that cylinder to a machine washer? Otherwise there will be accumulation of bacteria.
@Lex161Lexi4 жыл бұрын
Marco Beltran that would be time consuming and money consuming (ie. may need to have a replacement cylinder while the other is washed). If hospitals recycle them, I’m sure they are cleaned veryy well. Washing it would reduce germs but the inside of the cyclinder shouldn’t have much contact with anything besides the urine that will be discarded. If I had the time, I would probably pump some soap but probably not because chances are that the soap pump is manually and that would cause relatively unnecessary contamination of the soap dispenser.

🌸🌷You realize that even though anyone can look and act professional, but if you really pay attention ( when someone is educated ) which I’ve seen -the tone expression is different including posture, she can have a bit more help because she is already very gorgeous, she just has a ( slangish ) voice and this can be anyone from any ethnicity again to remove what they left in you, can be difficult but not impossible.
