I just love you. You are adorable and clearly love to cook. I am making this Saturday for a get together in the evening. I will offer it with pita AND your amazing tzaziki recipe. My entire evening menu is greek inspired and I am french canadian. LOL Thank you Dimitra for all you do and all you teach.

Made this the other night, very good and very easy. Not that I'm on a low carb kick, but instead of rice or pasta, I used shredded raw white cabbage as a base and spooned the chicken souvlaki over it. I'm not a big cabbage fan but this worked very well.

Just made this last night. Didn’t have halloumi cheese, but we did sprinkle on some feta cheese. I also didn’t add Kalamata olives. Still was so great with pita pockets and homemade tzatziki sauce. Thank you

This looks so good! I just wanted to say that I made your spanakopita recipe last weekend and it was the best recipe I have ever tried. You're the queen 👌

Great recipe, thank you! I’d pour the lemon only after you move the contents out of the skillet. Acid isn’t good for the non-stick seasoning.

I wish we had decent fast-food chains that ONLY served Mediterranean/Greek food, like a McDonald's. It would be a HIT. I've wanted this for years.

You really do have the best Greek food channel ever. I like your content even better than Akis Petretzikis. The thing about some Greek food channels some are like celebrities who get annoying because they're not more about the food. And others will be from Greek Americans who left Greece in the 50s so when they talk about Greece it makes Greece feel like it's in the 50s when it's a modern country and place kind of like the US and New York. But your channel is perfection. Your camera person is on point and perfection too. I'd love this Souvlaki in a skillet idea for a sandwich. You save me afew dollars and I say afew because Greek food at restaurants the portions are huge lol. Thanks for the recipes. You are very much appreciated!

Wow! Better than Akis! What a compliment. Thank you :)
@ali26365 жыл бұрын
I hate his cooking channel. The photographer isn't that great and Akis is always too far away from the camera. His kitchen looks terrible and industrial and his food doesn't look like the Greek food in restaurants here in America. Also it's more about him than the food. I like your channel more because the camera man takes great shots and you're in a lovely comforting kitchen and it's not loud with crappy music and you're not promoting yourself. And you do have your own thing going where people want to know about your personal life and your relationship with Greece. Your voice isn't annoying and the lighting isn't irritating. Akis and Idil Yazars channels are very irritating for those reasons. With yours I know you are showing something that you think tastes good.

Dimitra's Dishes And yes some Greek Americans really do make Greece seem old fashioned always talking about something they clipped growing off the side of the road in the flipping 40s or always talking about ancient stuff. But real Greeks aren't like that and they're more like modern Americans in their 20s and 30s and not over talking about oregano. It's a beautiful modern place that looks pretty amazing to vacation to.

@@ali2636 I guess celebrities don't have to work as hard as us mere mortals...lol!! Thanks so much for your input and for being here :) All the best!

@@ali2636 I know what you mean, but he really is a very talented chef. There are many chefs that I watch just because I admire their talent but don't really make their food. He is a HUGE celebrity in Greece and I'm sure he worked hard to get the status that he has. People love him!! To each their own. I do like him and his cooking although I use my own family's recipes and create my own versions. About that horrid music!!! I'm glad you brought that up. Greeks have great music! I cannot understand why they choose to play the tackiest American-like pop in cooking demos and in their morning programs. I'm 100% with you on that one. LOL!!

Pro tip: add your spices along with the onions or even just before. It will achieve two things: 1. the spices will release/infuse oil with the flavor 2. onion will prevent them from burning by absorbing most of the heat. Also reserve a little of that oregano (cumin, IMO, is less suitable, as it sustains the falvor when cooked better) to add at the very end, when the dish is done.

TY sweet Dimitroula mou! This recipe I've been waiting for all along.. I have pretty much everything except for Halloumi which I have to go out & buy it. I'll make this.
@DimitrasDishes5 жыл бұрын
You can leave the Halloumi out altogether :) I do love the extra texture and flavor but, I've made its several times without the cheese.

Where does one go to find (purchase) halloumi cheese ? Glorioso's doesn't carry it. ☺

You can leave the cheese out or add feta cheese chunks off the heat.
