As an engineer I would not do this in series, raising the voltage from 220VAC to 290VDC-315VDC and split 27 strips so that each gets nearly 12VDC. When ONE wire or LED segment breaks, you will lose the whole light. Better to rectify 220VAC down to 12VDC with a large enough current supply and wire the strips in parallel. If one strip or wire goes bad, the rest remain lit. Might want to put a current limiting device in each strip so they're not exposed to the full increasing current as you lose strips or break wires. Voltage will remain constant, but the current will not as it will be divided among remaing good strips.

BIG MISTRAKE! no resistor to limit the inrush current - good way to burn out the LEDS!!!

@@jtucehok 1. First the circuit is more dangerous that you think; there is no fuse and the wrong type of cap is used [it should be a X type]. 2. Consider the strip itself. It has a direct connection [the power diodes dont count for anything] to the live Mains. For a standard interior strip there is that connection along the traces and leads - including the exposed tracks at the end. 3. Anyone touching the traces, leads, exposed ends and is grounded will be shocked. At up to 100mA it can be fatal. 4. This threat is expanded if the strip is resting on/touching a metal or damp surface. Imagine using it in the bathroom and an exposed part touches a damp wall - touching the wall where it is damp is a really bad thing.

Hi, good idea this other use of LED in 12V on 220V, however the support you show made in 3D printing I can not find the link in the description, can you tell me where I can possibly find it, not necessarily to redo this electrical assembly with these electronic components to rectify the 220V (I don't have any diodes at home and for the moment I don't have enough use for them to buy a batch, which is more interesting in terms of price, but you still need to have the use for them). On the other hand, your support can be used for 12V LEDs powered by 12V, so I might be interested in printing it to make another type of lighting.

At his home is 292V not 220V. So he did 27 strips and on each strip he had about 10V. On 220V outlet you would need 19 strips connected in series to have about 12V on each strip.

This is ONLY a good idea IF: You find yourself locked in a basement of a night 😢😊darkness induced poltergeist hauntingand everyone has left for the weekend, the only lighting chance you'll have is to rip the cracked broken piece of LED strip in the trash, then clip off the old 1970s toasters plug off to make this OR your house is infested by spiders and you want it to burn it down completely.
