One thing that I love about the Mexican style is that it's pretty much the style needed to beat taller people. The forward pressure and head movement to fight at your range, as well as the body shots to take away his legs which will keep you closer to him. The peekaboo may as well be a Mexican style 🤷🏾‍♂️

Been living and training in Mexico 🇲🇽 love the energy here. Something I’ve noticed is the pace difference, when hitting pads here everything is just quicker, I’ve already increased my reaction time and the speed bringing my hands back to my fast which is very basic but very important. Mind you I’m a fighter, I’m still learning everyday Oh and the sparring his is harder than in Thailand 🇹🇭. At least these are my experiences…harder sparring doesn’t mean better it’s just more likely to get concussion.

@@allensastre5891 The reason they criticize those kinds of things is precisely because of that. You could end up being a very closed-off boxer with poor footwork if you practice that way. Additionally, for many Mexicans, moving or feinting is seen as something negative.

There is an element of culture that boosts the Mexican fighters' determination, endurance, resistance and heart. Since we are very young, we are taught by everyone that we must never "abrirnos" to none. This means never backing down from a fight. Even if we know the chances to succeed are limited. Even in this generation, we resolve problems with fits rather than words. There is no such thing as zero violence tolerance. We believe that men and women must know how to defend themselves. And I am not talking about the 2nd amendment in the USA to defend ourselves with weapons; I'm talking about protecting ourselves with our fists.

Skillr is always on point! I found this breakdown of the Mexican Style very accurate. These fighters are true warriors, always moving forward and never backing down. As mentioned in the video, "they focus on inflicting damage, not just scoring points," which is one of the most accurate descriptions of this style. What I would have liked to see more is a deeper dive into their inside game strategies and tactics, such as their clinching and pinning techniques. Furthermore, it was an amazing video. The comparisons between the amateur and pro stages were spot on! It provided a great point of comparison. Shakur Stevenson breakdown one day, cheers!

Born in El Paso TX. Sister city to Juarez Mexico. My grandfather is in the EP boxing hall of fame. He was born in Chihuahua and joined the army in ww2 to get his citizenship. Turned out the army prized his ability to box and he was put on a circuit in London called the rainbow corner. Pro boxers were joining the military and Champs like Joe Louis helped raise money for the war effort fighting exhibitions. My grandfather fought on the undercard of Billy Conn in London. My grandfather boxed his entire military career. He taught me to punch when i was 5. I boxed in 2 golden gloves tournaments and went 1-1 in them. Mexican style of boxing is very much a matter of machismo. Families praise the strong warriors and shrink from weakness. The mind set of the culture has a great deal to do with their phenomenon in the sport. When I boxed, even my grandmother was telling me to beat his ass. If granny is in on it then everyone is. The style is one of honor, code, valor. It's not just in boxing but even the culture itself. When I grew up in ep we all had to fight and prove ourselves. Even the guys who weren't great at fighting had to show the heart. It's very real and the history of Mexican boxing displays an endless flow of legendary warriors beloved of their people.

Mexican Style of boxing is a representation of our way of life: We don't stop, we don't give up, we roll with the punches and keep on going. Life is Mexico is HARD. There's no amateurs in mexican boxing, because almost 100% of the boxers are poor, and have NOTHING else besides their fists. That's why they are relentless, just like our in life in México, if you're not willing to take a few punches, you're not going to get anywhere.

In America, how common are school fights? Not university students, maybe high school (in primary school I highly doubt it haha). In secondary school with students approximately 12-15 years old. In Mexico it was sometimes the phrase "at the time of departure (in the place decided)". This means that there was going to be a fight between 2 students. Even when someone was hit, some parents would say "defend yourself because if you don't defend yourself I will hit you too (obviously joking)." In some cases they had to get their children into some contact sport, such as boxing. If it was not among students from the same school it could be with other students from another school.

Great breakdown, but it is missing a little more analysis on how the high guard is used to catch and deflect punches so intentionally that it leaves the fighter in an advantageous position to immediately attack, which is a key component of the relentless Mexican-style pressure. Salvador Sánchez and Julio César Chávez were two of the greatest examples of these high-guard defensive tactics.

Pernell Whitaker was fast as hell, so is he practicing the "Filipino Style" of boxing? Jesus Salud is Filipino. He's not extremely fast. He's got a lot of power. So is practicing the "Mexican Style of boxing"? Naoya Inoue is both fast and has power. So is he practicing the "Mexican and filipino styles of boxing"? Or is he practicing the Japanese style of boxing because he's Japanese?

He was all over the place, hunting you in all edges of the cage, relentless pressure and the gas tank of a diesel engine! Unreal fighting style and very exciting to watch! Sadly the mexican careers dont last that long, since they are willing to 'absord' damage which doesnt exist irl. You just take some years of your lifespawm away. In this regards i like the sovjet style more. Hit and not get hit!

In MMA Mexico he is very young friend. The first MMA champion born in Mexico was Brandon. For example, in Brazil, which is the birthplace of many champions, its first star was Royce Gracie in 1993. In Mexico, the first boxing champion was Baby Arizmendi in 1932 (there is a problem and that is that in reality, as there were several boxing associations boxers, some did not recognize him as world champion, only as regional champion and there was also Juan Zurita who was champion in 1944. So if Arizmendi is not recognized, Zurita would still be the true first champion). If it were Arizmendi, it would be 92 years of boxing in Mexico. If it were Zurita there is not much difference, in 80 years. MMA is very volatile when you go down the weight rankings. Here they almost use their toes to cause damage haha. MMA is punches, elbows, knees, kicks. Boxing with just your fists is the only thing you can do K.O. and finish the fight. I wonder if Dana will enter the boxing world, boxers will never have space in MMA unless an MMA fighter enters a square and only uses crab glove fists. MMA and Olympic boxing are almost the same for the Mexican. I would say that the Cubans in the Olympics are God in person. That's why what he says in the video is more to make the points clear.

Oh, that's a good video! Learning and practicing the many boxing combinations is a key element in the training of any boxer. Each combination is a sequence of punches that can be used in different situations in the ring. Knowing a variety of combinations allows a boxer to be unpredictable to his opponent, making it more difficult to recognize intentions and react to punches. It also develops the athlete's coordination, reaction and tactical thinking, allowing him to adapt to different styles of opponents and increasing his chances of winning. The practical manual “400 Boxing Combinations” is a valuable resource for boxers of all levels, as it provides a wide range of combinations and techniques. By working with this manual, the athlete is able to systematically study and practice techniques, choosing the most effective and appropriate combinations for him. In addition, the structured approach offered by the manual helps the boxer to organize his training and track his progress. This keeps you motivated and engaged in the training process, and improves your overall understanding of boxing as a tactic and strategy.

If you want to win ..... Go forward....go forward If in doubt go forward ..... Then go forward.... if down.... Get up and go forward.... Always go forward. Keep your chin down, your right on the temple and jab,jab,jab.... Jab,jab, jab ... Move to the left jab, move to the right jab and then do it all over again.

Morales defending himself at 4:18 is nice. You should see him sparring later in his career. Type in 'erik morales sparring round 3', you'll see him using the same defence around another sparring partner. I think he was preparing for Pablo Cesar Cano in that. He's the guy at 4:18

@JuanQuijada-wb2dm that's cos you see him brawling once he gets hit in the face. He uses distance control well, and if you watch his video vs. Pablo Cesar Cano, like the part of this video at 4:18, you'll see the defence that he barely uses most times. I was shocked when I saw him use defence. Trust me, he has it. He's just more known for brawling.

I am in the military and I was trained by American boxers and other instructors. They always say I have good head movement, slips and rolls. I am guilty of not keeping my head up and I try. At the end, they say I am more of Mexican boxer. At first, of course I am Mexican but they told my it’s my methods. So I look Mexican boxers and came to realize I am probably a natural Mexican style boxer. Even if I was taught by Americans

I'm curious. So, Tyson Peeka-boo style is just a variation of the Mexican style of boxing?
@carlosarteaga7304

as a Mexican I had Always thought that, maybe he adopted that style because most of his opponents were bigger and personalize it, he did said something about his favorite boxer being a Mexican once (Salvador sanchez) that guy was slick, so I do believe he developed his personal style based on that. Many Mexicans like Tyson and it must be because they find his style compelling unlike other black ppl like mayweather who we deem as boring.

I trained at a Mexican gym. The amateurs were also Floyd fans. If you could make shots miss, you would. Mexican style was developed to maximize the strong points of Mexican genes. Their culture also demands trading to prove your cajones. This is toxic for fighters. If you can win without getting hit, then by all means

Yeah, one can clearly see the affects of the mexican style on fighters. De la Hoya lasted pretty long for that, although he has some serious KOs later in his career. Canello has mexican style but combined with US defenses which leads you to getting hit less. The effect on his health is clearly visible. But the one mexican guy that suffered the most is probably MMA fighter cain velasquez. Comming from wrestling and mexican style close range boxing, he did remarkebly good and dominated heavyweight UFC. But on the other hand he destroyed his body with his workrate, his willingness to trade and the damage he absorbed. In the later stages of his career he got koed pretty badly for it

I like watching mexican style boxing, but I've always been a bigger fan of the US style. I prefer guys who move with their feet and can evade shots over heavy hitters that take too many shots.
