One of which Skills USA hosts, is competitions in the career field. Suah and I were partners and competed in the Video Production category. Although we did not win anything, we had tons of fun and learned a lot.

TIPS for creating on the spot
1. recognize and know how to handle stress/anxiety
1. before lunch, suah and i kept spilling ideas with no straightforward point, we were indecisive. A huge part of this was the feeling of stress and nervousness. During lunch I felt way more relaxed and recognized that it was the environment we were in, we were not used to the big room and high ceiling we started in. So we moved and worked in the lobby and felt wayyy more comfortable and got more work done.
2. take advantage and focus on what you are best at
1. suah and i are great at creating, not so much at words haha. We focused so much on the script and what to say (was not even required to say anything lol) and making it match the Skills USA values (again not even required, there was so much freedom to what we could match the theme to).
3. READ THE REQUIREMENTS
1. we totally didn’t forget to make a storyboard to turn in…
4. check your equipment
1. microphone cough cough
5. have funsies
things i learned
1. know how to iron lol
2. DO NOT keep small important things in your pockets

overall it was super cool, this was probably the highlight of my sophomore year.
