I am so thrilled that I found your channel! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills. I live where there are very few skilled craftsmen or they are so far out of my price range that I have to do the work myself. It's been really hard but thanks to amazing guys like you, I've been able to get the job done with better results than I could have imagined. I really appreciate what you do, thanks again!

It was a tough choice between the various brands but I went with the tomahawk. The main thing against the plastic ones was the potential to warp. The price of the proskim and the standard threaded pole was very tempting tho.
@csdrywallhawaii3 жыл бұрын
Ya the price point is tempting but the tomahawk will last forever and the blades are replaceable great choice. 🤙🏽

I’ve been back and forth on getting the tomahawk or this one I wanted the tomahawk but it’s a little pricey to just try it out . My question for you is 1.) does it leave the work flat or does it look wavy when you put a light on it ? 2.) how does this one compare to the tomahawk since you’ve used them both . I tried a magic trowel a while back and it looked amazing when I was finished . I was real happy . Then I put the light on it and it was extremely wavy . I ended up re working the whole ceiling by hand and lost so much time . Thanks In advance

I know exactly what you mean I did the same thing with the trowel a couple of years back before skimming blades were a thing and sanding sucked trying to erase the ways. Any skimming blade is completely different since its a metal blade not rubber. I would recommend you buy one with out the extensions etc. To try out and see if it's for you. It doesn't leave waves but has a small learning curve. To us its the most useful for ceilings.

As someone who just tried various brands of skimblades, have you found the blades to be of similar gauge metal? I was surprised at how thin the tomahawk blade was. I guess I was expecting it to be similar to the blades on my taping knives but in fact they're a much thinner gauge and easily damaged. I suspect they're probably all the same so there's probably not much point in trying a different brand.
@csdrywallhawaii3 жыл бұрын
You are correct all blades are the same just whether or not there replaceable and the durability of the housing changes between brands. Which is key depending on longevity of purchase. The reason it needs to be so flimsy is to prevent gouges when wiping and skimming if its to stiff it would just take all the material off. Takes a bit of getting use to but for us it has been beneficial. Hope it helps thanks for watching 🤙🏽

are you still liking your Marshalltown over time? Or you would go with something else?

It's still pretty solid.

Wondering if you could use a tapetech with the Marshall town locking mechanism? Would probably want to have a 7” and 10” blades. Thanks for your time

It should work I gave the tape tech set to my younger brother so can try it out but they both looks identical.

Just a heads up, I ordered a 31.5" two weeks ago, it came bent. I emailed marshalltown and they sent out another one, but it's bent worse than the first! lol smh

Dam that sucks bro I been pretty lucky none of the blades came bent in both orders. Call them up again and tell them to use a bigger box 📦 😂🤙🏽

@@csdrywallhawaii I ended up getting the complete set you have there after using the 18" and 32" on a job. Question is, how are you storing them? Rifle case? Also, for the pole I really like the wooster quick release poles for the skimming blades with the threaded adapter so you can pop off the blade fast.

Have you tested the marshall town proskim against the TAPETECH shimming blade ?
@csdrywallhawaii3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are pretty identical. The Marshalltown Is a little cheaper and has a better handle.

Can u compare the prices of The year tomahawk blades for me brother 🤙
Did you have a chance to use these blades? How do they compare to the Columbia Tomahawk?
@csdrywallhawaii4 жыл бұрын
The tomahawk handle and adjuster is all metal construction and faster to change angels. It can also be used with box handles. The proskim is solid, just the blades are not interchangeable but the best price on the market. Over it comes down to your preference both get the job done.🤙🏽
@badchips104 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I do smaller repair jobs and plan to use the skimming blade without the handle most of the time. As long as the skimming blade by itself is as good as Columbia I'm good. The plastic is ok for me since I would not use it as much as drywall professional.
