At first I thought the skin colour was too yellow but as you finished the piece it doesn't look too yellow anymore! Thank you so much for the tutorial I'm now considering between shell pink or jaune brilliant bcs I need a ready to use skin colour...

fua I chose jaune brilliant, but that's because I use primarily warm skin tones. but now you got me thinking on shell pink. hmmm

have you ever tried to draw characters with darker skin?
@rhombohedral2908
@rhombohedral2908 7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing, the art community usually only draws white females. however, it is really hard to shade something already dark. but this is NO excuse to stop drawing every skin tone :V
@_Cloun
@_Cloun 7 жыл бұрын
Rhombohedral I know some artists problem is that they do 80-90% commission work and alot of that can be thin pretty white girls, I know a few artists who have that problem even if they really enjoy painting and doing dark skin tones. And some artists who are practicing trying to do different skin tones may not yet feel confident in showing their work (I have several OCs with Med. Dark to Very dark skin but i never post art of them because im still very inexperienced with skin tones and they end up looking very amaturish and im not proud of the piece) I also know some artists who are afraid of doing different skin tones or races because they dont want to over exaggerate any features or make it seem like a bad depiction. I love seeing dark skin tones done in water color, they are gorgeous and I hope to get good at it someday..

Can you do the same thing but with darker skin tones?
@ashiyakisaart
@ashiyakisaart 7 жыл бұрын
yes you can. just add some cool tones to the shadows part
@ashiyakisaart
@ashiyakisaart 3 жыл бұрын
I wasn't talking about undertone of the skin, I was talking about shadow, which just look more defined if you add cooler tones to it, no matter that skin color is it. For darker colors using cool tones helps to make shadow protrude more because cool tones helps making a color darker. of course if you want to make reddish shadows no one will stop you but shadow can become less visible than if you add cooler tones to your paint. So basically it's just a trick of how to make a shadow more visible on dark paint, not saying about original skin undertone or anything like that

You are my inspiration for illustrations, Thank you. I have a doubt, should I add the darker values while the initial layer is still wet?. Because if I add dry on wet the darker values doesn't blend smoothly and if I use water my lighter base becomes more darker ☹️.
@ashiyakisaart
@ashiyakisaart 2 жыл бұрын
thank you! usually, if I need to do something blended well, like blush, i do it on wet (but it has to be not super wet, enough to be blended and nor too much to blend to the shole ares, and I draw eyes, nose and lips on dry layer and just blend it myself with water
