Skincare Minimalism distilled by Dr. Idriss 1. Nighttime routine goal to reset skin. A) Cleanser! B) Target problem with serum for 6-8wks, focus on acne, fine lines, or building collagen. C) Eyes, lightweight OTC retinol with layer of Vaseline on top. D) Moisturizer to glaze and lock in moisturizer, unless hot humid environment use light gel or nothing at all. 2. Morning routine A) wash off residue from night before, over washing can cause more oil production. B) Vitamin C to help sunscreen work better. C) If wearing mask more than 8 hours or live in hot environment, then skip moisturizer and just apply sunscreen. Tip: OBSERVE your skin with a product for 6 to 8 weeks. Simple and beautiful works.

My mother didn’t have a skin care regimen and had beautiful skin…she was one of the lucky ones! She was definitely beautiful! At 50 I went to go see the dermatologist because of melasma. I was started on some prescription creams. I have sort of gotten a skin care regimen. I’m starting to see some definite results. The biggest thing that I have done is to wash off my makeup at night and wear tinted sunscreen everyday. If nothing else, I have slowed the rapid aging that I was seeing. I found this channel 1 week ago, and I've become addicted to your videos. I lost count of how many I've seen. The past week I have: - become aware that most of my skincare contains hyaluronic acid, and made a plan to phase those products out - been looking for glycerin based products - bought a vitamin C serum that I started using in the AM - stopped cleansing my face in the morning - moisturized the s*it out of my face - started using sunscreen every day even though I live in Norway, and we don't have a lot of sun during the winter ..and I swear I can already tell the difference! You are incredible! You make skincare so easy, and so accessible for everybody. I used to think the more expensive a product was, the better it was. I now know that it's not true at all. I now feel like I know what to get, what will work and what will not work. I love that I can buy a good product for a decent price. I have learned so much in such a short time. Shereene has been opening my eyes to the beauty industry and skin care. I noticed something was off when my skin was dry and my sunscreen clung to the dry patches making them white and patchy. I was using HA a lot thinking it was helping. As soon as I did a trial with no HA, immediate difference. My skin actually glowed like I wanted. So now I focus on what I’m treating and removing a lot of actives and serums and focusing on a good gentle acid for my oily blackhead prone area and my tretinoin again. So far my skin feels more hydrated but time will tell. Redness is probably my current issue so I’m trying to find calming ingredients.

AM: I just wash my face with water, vitamin C serum, mositurizer, sunscreen. Also, I listen to what my skin is telling me, so sometimes l put Vaseline all over my face before going to bed, after l did my PM routine if my skin is on the dryer side, and sometimes l skip moisturizer in the morning. I exfoliate usually twice a week, sometimes once, using a exfoliating cleanser which l leave on for a few minutes on my face. I've been watching skincare videos a lot these past 2 years as I've started to have breakouts again (I'm 21) after my last time was at 16yo. Now my skin is getting better, I have acne scars and uneven skin but, I'm not so terrified to look into the mirror anymore. Funny thing is that I'm having the most simple and easy routine ever. Mornings: Cleanser or just water + sunscreen (if I'm going out)+gel moisturizer. I know I should always apply sunscreen, but I'm getting used to it and trying to find a good one for oily/acne prone skin! Nights: Micellar water (especially if I had makeup on)+ cleanser + gel moisturizer. To me, it seems like the easiest routine is the best. I will eventually add one or two more things to improve my skin because it still needs A LOT of help, but at the same time, I like having this routine🤷🏻‍♀️ Your channel is the best I've found, simple and straight to the point. I'm not a native English speaker, so it's important for me to hear someone talking clearly! 🙂 The Routines' reaction videos are good too, never exaggerated with the reactions and objective. 😊

Thank you for this! My head is whirling with which product to use! After watching influencers apply different products I am confused as to which I should be using! I am 68 years of age, have fine lines around my eyes and wrinkles in the usual places i.e around my mouth where we lose the fat, neck and arms due to loss of elasticity. My skin is normal/dry so if you have the time, could you please give me ideas what to use? I only use cruelty free products. I loved this video, as I want to keep my skincare to a minimum as you suggested. I can’t see the point in using 7+ different skincare products, apart from the expense of it all! I trust you above everyone else on this channel. Thank you for help . 😊 take care xx

Wow, I fell so blessed stumbling upon your video. Almost every beauty blogger talked about toner after cleansing. I tried and my skin can not tolerate too many layers of products, so I reduced it to only retinol right after cleansing. Just because I want to stick to that routine to see how it actually works on my skin. Now I am confident that my approach is absolutely right. Thank you so much for clarifying it.

My routine is pretty much like that, the only difference is that my sunscreen is also a moisturizer and it works really well on my "normal to dry" skin. I like to be in touch with the news in skincare but in the end my routine is based on what works for me and I realized the simpler the better.

Hi Dr. Idriss!! You look beautiful as always 😍. Thank you for reminding us of what we need and nothing we don't need for our skin. If it wasn't for you, I would not be where I am now with my skin. I never wore sunscreen and I'm a redhead and burn within 5 to 10 minutes outside in the sun. My family also has a history of skin cancers. I wear sunscreen and reapply aggressively and my skin has never looked better. I also use a retinoid of course for my hormonal acne and my skin has never looked so good. Thank you so much!! I stopped using a bunch of different products on my skin and literally my skin got so smooth, soft and clear! For my job I literally work over nights so I go in when it's dark outside and during the day I'm in side so I never really have a reason to wear spf. Even when I did, it ALWAYS gave me crazy acne even when I wore chemical sunscreen (it was weird) but I literally just use: Water and aveeno on my skin and it absolutely loves it! I use the nighttime balm for babies in the winter and either the stress relief or the OG lotion during the spring/summer (depending on which one I have on hand) 😊 it may not be the best routine but it's what works for my skin best 😊

What do you do for collagen production?
@jasminateodorovic1248
@jasminateodorovic1248 2 жыл бұрын
@@alisonnevil7141 First, I have to say I do nothing without consulting my longtime dermatologist, since each individual's skin is unique, like a fingerprint mark, or dna. Hydration, retinol (over the counter one from La Roche Posey 0.3 per cent) since any other might compromise the skin barrier, Vichy ampule (containing several types of tripeptides, vitamin C and HA) and winter time moisturizer Biodroga MD 24h hydration. Also introduced gentler option for exfoliation, since retinol already does it in its own terms, with amazing 5% Mandelic acid skin prep water by Wishtrend. And as I said, consistency and patience are the key. This combo is for my skin. Might or might not work for yours. I am amazed, both with my routine consistency and the results. P. S. I am from Europe, so the ingredients list often vary from those in other parts of the globe.

Hey Dr. Shereene! Love your content. Thank you for the education :) I’m 45, have normal to dry skin and some sun damage on my chest and a few age spots in my face (90s kid - sunbathed like it was a full time job). Also fine lines. Here’s my skincare routine: Nighttime: Double cleanse with face balm & creamy face wash, I apply Tretinoin every other night (I’m new to it) on face, neck chest), LaRoche Posay triple repair moisturizer on face/neck/chest. I also exfoliate w/ Paula’s Choice BHA OR Peter Thomas Roth peel pads once a week. Daytime: Maelove Vitamin C (prefer one without a dropper), then Azelaic Acid, then the same moisturizer as nighttime, then SPF 30+ mineral tinted sunscreen on face/neck/chest. I also exfoliate my body with First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser once or twice a week & recently started using Naturium Retinol body moisturizer. If you have time, can you weigh in on my skincare routine? I’m on a mission to find the optimal routine for anti-aging, Sun spots, and overall glow and plumpness 🤩☺️💁‍♀️ Thx again for your content!💛

Absolutely LOVE your channel! Thank you for some much needed sagely advice in the world of skincare!! I have a question that has been meandering in my mind for a little while now.. I see a lot of estheticians and people on KZbin doing skincare videos who massage products into their skin in an upward motion (both on their neck as well as face), do you recommend the upward motion while applying products onto skin? I understand the importance of lymphatic massage/lymphatic drainage, but this is something not for that purpose. The upward motion of application seems to be recommended for the goal of “let’s not help the course of gravity”. What do you think? Is there any validity to the upward application of products onto the face and neck? Will that offset the “work of gravity” people seem to be plighting against?
