@@kylaakemi I workout in the morning so now when I wake up, I just wash my face with water (no cleanser), then after my workout I shower and cleanse my skin, then do my skincare routine, and then again in the evening, cleanse and skincare routine. I used to wash my face 3 times (morning evening and after a workout) but I found this was too stripping and I didn’t wanna wash my face so much. Now I feel like this is working well for me but I need Susan’s confirmation haha and I also have no clue what to do after an evening workout, say if you’re wearing makeup during the day and need to get that off before your workout

Well look at it this way, since you are allergic to many ingredients (Contained in spf) your skin itself is pretty sensitive as well. So there is another reason for you to take care of your skin. As the other commenter said, wear hats and sunglasses when going out in the sun (whenever it's possible) and in summer, when it's really hot, dont go out into the sun before 5 pm because the UV-rays are WAY TO HIGH before that. I hope you will find a sunscreen you can wear :)

When i was on my early 20s, there is huge trends in my home country Malaysia. Every founder released their own skincare brand but they are packed with harmful substances to meet the growing demand for cosmetics and skincare products, which promise to turn legions of fans into flawless beauties or at least make them a couple of shades lighter. The worst things is it contain harmful substances, including hydroquinone and mercury. The products also contained huge amounts of other dangerous substances, like cadmium (to erase pigmentation), chromium (as a colourant), lead (for lasting shiny effect) and arsenic (to improve complexion) all of which have been banned in cosmetics regulated under the ACD.

Some relatable realizations as I'm approaching my mid 30's: 1) applying skincare to neck and chest, I am quite proud of my skin on my face but can see early signs of aging around my clavicle and now buying expensive neck creams to mediate the appearance. Also 2) wearing SPF! I always wore a tinted moisturizer with SPF but at SPF 15 or SPF 20. Now I use SPF 30 at a minimum. Lastly 3) Using retinol more consistently and earlier in my 20's. I didn't start incorporating retinol until my late 20's but didn't think I needed it and then at 32 I realized the importance of a regimen that utilized retinol and actives. Now I love retinol so much and wish I had started at 25.

I love my dermatologist and my skin now. I religiously do my routine night & day. Because I am forever traumatized from where I used to be 😂😂. I always get confused when I hear "tanning is a mistake" because sunscreen doesn't stop tanning entirely. I wear SPF50+ every day and God knows I reapply and still get golden in the summer since I can't avoid the sun 24/7 and will NOT wear long sleeves in the horrible humid heat in the city. I just don't BURN so I'm super confused.
@cv7958
@cv7958 3 жыл бұрын
The majority of the public will not end up applying the amount of SPF required to reach the SPF number listed on the packaging. You are most likely not getting SPF 50+ and opting to not avoid the sun during high peak hours/wear long sleeves/wide brim hat can also contribute to the tan someone can receive in spite of SPF usage. I suspect the humidity is also wearing away at your sunscreen faster than it would for someone in a non-humid environment. Inevitably, seeing your skin tan is a sign of sun damage.
@lou9123
@lou9123 3 жыл бұрын
@@cv7958 Hope I'm getting the SPF50+, our sunscreen in Europe seem, from everything I see around YT, more reliable than US ones (esp the LRP formulation or even Eucerin). And since I'm living, and not hiding in a basement, ofc I get sun exposure. But, tanning, as in, getting sun exposure throughout a normal day when you can't avoid the sun isn't what I'd call a mistake. Going about your day isn't a mistake and because of that, tanning? How is that a mistake? This is where I'm confused. Tanning beds, roasting with no sun protection from noon to 4pm poolside etc yes of course, these are mistakes. But seeing your skin getting golden because in the summer there's very little way to avoid it? The word "mistake" for it disturbs me deeply.

Well, I'm a long ways away from my 20s now. Guilty of all of this. I wish I was 17 and watching this. Instead I'm 57, only having woken up to my skin and issues in my early 50s. At least I periodically wore face sunscreen now and then in my 30s + 40s, but the really good sunscreens were hard to find (especially on dial up) and anyway, I was not shopping online much back then, and You Tube was still to come. Born too freaking early. Waiting on biopsy results from derm appointment last week. I once had a third degree inverted triangle sunburn on my chest below my collarbone. It eventually turned gray, yes, gray, and hard, like a plate. I thought my skin would never heal. Well it did and how I have lovely vertical lines to remind me of that terrible burn. I will be 22 in july, my routine (my skin is dry) is pretty basic: - cleanse with a gentle cleanser (just at night. In the morning just wash with cold water) - put on a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum - at night I finish off with the CeraVe cream or other ceramides based moisturizer - During the day instead of the thick cream I go with a moisturizer with SPF 30, 35... In really sunny days a fps 50 is more reliable but I work inside so... :p I will be starting with peptides soon. I don't know if I want to try retinol, seems too harsh for my dry skin, especially with the weather were I live... maybe in a couple years :*

I never understood why someone would go to bed with makeup on. I would always shower and remove my makeup no matter how late or early in the morning it is. It's about hygiene more than anything else. I must admit I was the person who wouldn't put a moisturiser under my foundation when I started using it as I thought it would be too much on me. In my defence I started using foundation when I was 24, so I didn't realise initially how drying it can be on its own 😅

Ok but howwwww do you reapply spf if you wear makeup?? I don’t understand!! I am in my 20s, am a mom of 2 and live in sunny Arizona and my “get ready” time is so valuable to me, I don’t want to ruin it!

Yesss I really feel guilty for not putting my sunscreen every two hours or even when I reapply I don't feel it's like when I've put it in home and I don't really put sunscreen inside☹️

I’m constantly torn between wanting to lay out and get some color because I am WHITE WHITE! Like ghostly pale to the point where I’m slightly purple undertoned; and wanting to only lather up in SPF and just use self tanner.. it’s horrible 😂 I’m 26 and I’ve actually done a good job with using spf so much in the summer weather especially, because again, I’m so fair that I burn immediately. Why does the sun have to feel so good and make us LOOK so good, but do SO MUCH DAMAGE?!

If you're that pale your tan (if you even tan) will fade very quickly, so there's no point whatsoever 😶 you're just damaging your skin without having at least a aesthetic gain, idk

One thing I can say that we need to learn to love our pale skin, it's as good a skin color as any. If you reaaaaaaly want to tan, I've heard derms recommend using the spf oils for that, like bioderma has an spf 30 oil. My skin is so pale that it practically never tans anyways so it's not even remotely worth it.

so, if I have acne and use an SA cleanser, how often and when should I be using it? I usually use it at night and then a gentle cleanser in the morning. I use an AHA/BHA toner sometimes and I think I could over exfoliating… therefore, how can I control my acne without over exfoliating?
