I used adapalene for about 2-3 years and yes, it made a huge change. 6 months ago I switched to Tretinoin and it's so much stronger. I never thought my pores and acne scars would shrink, but they have quite a bit.

Is it normal for skin to start flaking on adapalene?
@lukastemberger
@lukastemberger 10 ай бұрын
@@nadezdalaradimsoski8735 Yes, you need a period of getting used to it. It should stop in a couple of weeks, sometimes several weeks. I find The Ordinary Barrier Support to really help calm my skin. Wait 15 mins for adapalene to sink in and then apply the serum on top overnight.

Same thoughts on Aveeno’s Calm & Restore oat gel moisturizer. It’s been a staple of mine for years. Deeply nourishing, calming, thick enough to matter but thin enough to feel comfortable and sink into the skin quickly. Love, love 💕

I can’t say enough about how much I love the Aveeno Oat Moisture Gel as well, Dr. Dray! I tried it thanks to you and it is SO wonderful!! I’ve never used a more effective moisturizer - the way it sinks in, creates a perfect balance on the skin and greatly diminishes redness (I have perioral dermatitis flares from time to time) is unreal! I too hope Aveeno never discontinues it. It’s not fun or exciting packaging but it is in a lovely glass jar and omg how amazing this product is!!

I just started Adapalene last month after using the 24 Olay Retinol in the purple jar. I realllllllly loved that cream! However I wanted something stronger. Wow after using Adapalene 2x a week the chin acne that has surfaced from the deep is not joking around 😮. I know I have to trust the process and I’m glad it’s only 1 cyst here and there and not my entire face. My skin is so oily h that I can get away with using the light Rosacare moisturizer still - under the Adapalene. By summer I’ll be able to moisturize over the Adapalene. Baby steps. I love how as a doctor you are still practical and look for bargains. ❤

Dr. Dray: Can you give me your best suggestion for just one or two face creams I can use? I'm now old, and I'm just so tired of my routine of a lifetime: special cleansers, special toners, special day cream, special night cream, face oil, exfoliator, retinol cream, collagen cream, etc., etc. What would you think of my just washing my face and applying a face cream, then maybe doing a once-a-month ampoule treatment? I don't work anymore, and really never leave the house except to do errands. I think I'm just stuck in the habit of a lifetime, and I'm so tired of it and the increasing expense now that I'm on pension. For years, I've used products with "lifting, firming and plumping". I don't have wrinkles because I've used good face products my whole life, but age and gravity have caught up. I really need to simplify my life - I'm just so tired. Thank you for your time and advice. Marcia.

I used prescription trifarotene (Aklief) for a couple of years, and I liked it overall. It was more irritating on my skin than tazarotene (Arazlo) but about as irritating as Retin-A micro was on my skin. The trifarotene to me felt like it was plumping up my skin more--it got rid of all my pores! Pretty amazing! Stings though. I'm currently using tazarotene and I like it best. Hardly irritating at all (about the same as azalaic acid on my skin) and the results seem to be better for me than Retin-A micro. Plus, even after using Retin-A micro for 5 years, it still feels like I'm rubbing my face with sandpaper.

@@db-gb5xi Hey, thanks! I've seen those, but the emphasis in my question is on the eczema aspect. I know the right layering order, I'm not sure as to the recommended quantities/strengths/frequencies when it comes to people with atopic dermatitis like me. There's a really gentle balance between strengthening the skin barrier and improving its appearance, and burdening the skin.. probably that's grammatically incorrect. you can't burden your skin, can ya?🤣🤣 I'm Israeli 😅😅 (I've already said that, maybe🤦) but you get it, I mean making the skin work too hard.
