I have two pair, black with red logo and olive green, and I find they are better suited to walking and daily use rather than running. While running I noticed they have a tendency to slip/slide around my foot. Also the overhang at the toes tends to droop and sometimes scrape the ground when when wlaking thru rough terrain.

I had the V1 of these, and I've just about wore through them with hard city running mileage. I just received my pair of V2s, and I agree that the insole is fairly unruly and doesn't stay where you want it. I've removed mine, and I'm enjoying them quite a bit. They may suite someone who does more walking than running. Other benefits are that they aren't as hot to wear as the old ones, and a good bit wider.

Just bought these shoes and decided to see more videos about them as I am still finding it tough to believe what I tried on at the local barefoot running store. It is already late here, so I will try them outside over the weekend, but they look amazing. Having worn Vibram Furoshiki for several years now, I am happy to let go of the cushioned shoes because all they do is make my feet, legs and back hurt while costing a lot of money. Thank you for the video! By the way, the store owner recommened me to buy the first version of Skinners which do not have insoles. He mentioned the exact same issues you mentioned in your video as the insoles move and are rather useless. The first version costs 5 EUR less over here in the EU, so maybe it could be a better investment for those who are interested in an even more barefoot experience and somewhat more stability?
@GrownandHealthy3 жыл бұрын
I hope you like them! Yes, the innersole is the weak point. What are your opinions on the Vibram Furoshiki? Are they good for fitness?
@Flamdring3 жыл бұрын
@@GrownandHealthy , thank you! I think Vibram Furoshiki are not the best choice for activities that require a lot of rapid foot movements and balance, simply because your feet can slightly move inside. I tried running in them and while it was a pleasant experience at first, I almost lost my shoe when I made a sudden turn. My foot slipped out of it. For this reason, I would not suggest you to wear them while swimming in water, because you can lose them if you are not careful. The Skinners can apparently be worn while swimming which is great in some parts of Europe where we have little sharp stones on the beach. However, I would highly recommend Vibram Furoshiki to anyone who wants to have barely noticeable shoes that kind of look cool (Ninja style!) while walking at home, in the garden, or in the office where you are not required to dress formally. They can easily be worn outside on the pavement or grass, and can be washed in a washing machine without problems. Basically, they are very similar to Skinners, but they do not offer the same level of stability. In terms of durability, I have mine since 2017 and wear them almost daily around the house and occasionally outside, but they still look as good as new.

There are more shoe-like barefoot options, but they tend to be more expensive. Such as Xero shoes. However, it's worth it if you're looking for more cushion and versatility. Went 100% minimalist shoes years ago and have not had a single blister, ache, or pain since. I forget I'm wearing shoes. Your feet will need to adapt but they will get stronger the more natural you go and you eventually won't notice. However, the shape of your feet will probably change. Mine got wider and I went up an entire shoe size. (Technically it was always my real size and I was killing my feet with narrow style shoes that I grew up with.)

I recently bought a Large and extra-large, the large feels just the ever so slightest bit snug, but the XL is notably loose with a flap I'm assuming like you're talking about. I guess I'm large? Normally I wear an 11 1/2-12 US so it's weird. I feel like their sizing doesn't 100% translate to footwear
@neferazure3 жыл бұрын
With any minimalist shoe, you are supposed to order down by at least half a size. I measured into a Large, so I ordered the medium, and they fit perfectly. Could have even gone down to a small for an even more snug fit, but even at Medium they are snug enough, yet I could still fit a thin sock in it for colder days out if I wanted, which is what I was going for. My next pair will probably be in a small for that extra snug fit. Prior to these I had experience with the now defunct Adidas Adipure Five Finger trainer and those were also great. Unfortunately Vibram was hating and sued them because Adidas' version was doing way better and to me they felt way more comfortable than the Vibes since the toes weren't super stubby like the Vibes tend to be. I do also have traditional water shoe types as well and I feel they also come in handy for different purposes as well. I mainly bought these Skinners because I play dance games and wanted something that is more barefoot/minimal as I move on the pads. Also because I've been searching for years for a good replacement for my Adipures since I used to play in those and did so for a good 5 or 6yrs before I finally had to trash them. I'm hoping i'll get some good wear out of these before having to replace them. But I plan to buy more pairs since I do like the ones I have. I should have bought more Adipures when they were still on the market, had I known they would have met the fate that they did due to Vibram hating lol. Can still find them second-hand on E-bay and they are washer-friendly like the skinners so I may grab a pair whenever someone has my size and is letting them go, as long as they're in decent wearable condition.
