I remember an article describing Skinny Puppy as technology abuse. I still can't help but think that most of the shit played on radio stations is a much better fit for that description.

I ended up squeaking by on a project, in highschool, about Skinny Puppy. It was a sorta-pre college thing, but the assignment was to put a full mini-thesis on. Cite your sources, have visual aids, etc. This is in a small bush town in 1997-98? I was listening to The Process on a loop at that point, and was pretty deep into snorting Ritalyns... So I somehow ended up with Vivisect VI and submitted a rough draft about why Skinny Puppy is important.

I remember back in 1999 when I was a programmer working at a company called Computer Science Corporation (CSC) on a project involving fixing COBOL code for the year 2000 issue, through out the day I would listen to various music CDs in order to deal with the mind numbing drudgery that came with dealing with a corporate environment that is exactly like the issues described in Scott Adams's Dilbert cartoon. I think the CDs I most listen to where the ones made by Skinny Puppy since they were the best at taking my mind off a lot the mindless BS that I had to put up with at the time and allow me to focus I just trying to get as many important things done in any given day. To me (and I believe to many others like me) the band members of Skinny Puppy are heroes much like priest are to people that follow Abrahamic religions.

I grew up on this. 45 now. A childhood favorite. Anger, Epilogue, and other SP works do well in haunted houses. VIVI has some similar tracks. Great band. Ogre and Skinny Puppy have some happy works as well. The band's attitude spans more emotion than the groveling and haunting anger. I am such a purist about SP that NIN never really moved me. This is the heart of ALL that later angst in tech. Btw, my brother in law just recently hung out with Ogre a couple weeks ago. He sent me a photo. Small world.
