I am completely torn between this bike and the Triumph T100 (It would be ''scramblerized''). I know the Desert Sled is better in almost every category except for luggage carrying and comfort while cruising and it might be a bit tall. However the only thing I'm scared of is the plastic look of this bike, is it bad? Cause I know the Triumph fits me like a glove but that's only in looks, this one does it with functionality(even though it looks absolutely amazing). The Ducati imo is younger and more exciting while the Triumph is more mature. I want to know your opinion on what you would do in my situation. I will buy the bike as a main form of transportation and also for travelling etc. I currently own a 125cc because of the new licensing system in my country, but soon want to get a more powerful bike. Thanks in advance!

Heya Dennis, lucky you asked me that question because I used to own a Triumph Scrambler (the more off-road version of the Bonneville). What I loved about the Triumph was the South African support and the trustworthiness of the bike. Though... I live on a farm on a mountain & the bike could not handle the off-road, rocky and sandy road. I started to do damage to the bike & stuff started to rattle & fall off. The bike was also a bit heavy for me. I know it weighs about the same as the Duc, but a shorter bike tends to feel heavier when you have to lift it off the floor. All said - I still loved my Griet (Triumph). Though... in my opinion the Sled is far better. It's faster, more comfortable, more powerful, wheelies like a king, handles the offroad sections with ease, and is nippy through traffic. As far as luggage - just add the luggage racks (or pack less :-) ). And it definitely does not have a plastic feel/look. I'm used to the Suzuki DR and the Husky 701. These bikes are more off-road & thus more plastic. My final verdict is - the Sled is SEXIER as well. I loved Griet - but Argo wins!

Dennis Kuis did you consider the new triumph Street scrambler, its a big improvement over the previous triumph scrambler.
@tankgirls6 жыл бұрын
I tested it in the Bike Of The Year last year & it is a HUGE improvement on the old Scrambler. I had one called Griet, but my farm is too much OFFROAD for the Triumph. It took a beating. I needed something with higher clearance. AND... Triumph left SA. :-(

@tankgirls7 жыл бұрын
You might not have noticed the heading said 'FIRST RIDE'??? This was on my way back to the farm just after I collected the Sled. Maybe take some time to go through my other videos & you will notice how 'flat' the Sled makes Breedtsnek look. But not everybody can read... you are forgiven. ;-)
@flatbrokemodsquad42417 жыл бұрын
Skinny van Schalkwyk I was thinking it was first hard core ride. Was searching for a good off road test not flat dirt road. Sorry. Not sure why your video popped up. Was in a hurry and getting frustrated because most of these videos aren't using the suspension of the bike, which is what I was looking for.
@tankgirls7 жыл бұрын
Aaah, ok - you are forgiven ;-) But honestly, I had the bike for 6 months & I fell in love. It' might not be the same ride as a Husky 701 (mostly because of the weight, and some because of the price), but it really had no problem rolling over rocky terrain. We didn't really got to do heavy sand, so I can't comment on that. Maybe go test ride one. I think you will like it...
@flatbrokemodsquad42417 жыл бұрын
Skinny van Schalkwyk . I think I will test ride one. I'm digging the looks. I like the paint scheme on yours. This will be a lot lighter than the old 1100 katana that I have currently. Besides, my friend has lots of pure dirt bikes if I need a fix. I am wondering about the heat from the cat converter. I heard that it can get excessive. I would prob get an aftermarket exhaust and gizmo to fool the computer to eliminate it if I didn't like it.
@tankgirls7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah - from a Katana, this will be a little puppy. The bike got a little bit (like in tiny, miniscule) hot in traffic, but nothing like the Buell or the Triumph Scrambler I've had. And if you have the money - you would be crazy not to fit an aftermarket xhaust. Have you heard how it sounds then? LOVE!
