There is yet to be another show that nailed the reckless, messy, anxiety driven fucked up nature of what it meant to be a teenager growing up. Surprisingly, I actually watched the first and second series as it was still ongoing in the UK, and looking back now, I realize why I connected so much with it. I was in a tailspin and losing myself like the main characters were, though I didn't realize it at the time. It's crazy how listening to this simple theme song brings those memories and emotions just FLOODING back.

infra white I love Series 6 so much.. Gen3 is underrated tbh. Gen2 might be the most beloved one but after rewatching it I have to say that Gen 2 had the most annoying characters out of all 3.. Series 4 was shit anyway.. They can hype out the shit of Gen2 but Series 4 was completely Bull. Only Freddie and Cook made it worth to watch. Pandora was annoying as fuck, Thomas the dullest, Naomi and Emily(I get that LGBTQ Community loves every lesbian couple even if the writting is rubbish) and we had Katie (Her purpose after her episode was just to fill the cast tbh)
@lovelylxner63154 жыл бұрын
@@GLBizzie I don't think Gen 3 is underrated simply because their seasons, along with the characters, were garbage. There were maybe 2 characters that I actually liked out of that generation, a couple that I didn't mind, and the rest I couldn't stand. Franky, for example, had so much potential to be a great character, but they completely fucked up her character development and tried turning her and Luke into a discount Cook and Effy. I do agree that the 4th season wasn't the best (I did like it, but the finale felt rushed), but the entirety of season 6 was an absolute MESS. As for Panda, she is generally annoying, but Thomas was such a sweetheart for the majority of the time. I understand where you're coming from with Naomi and Emily, but honestly, their story (even the end of it in season 7) was so beautiful, even if it was toxic in some points.

Yeah, this piece of music captures something a lot more than the TV show. Looking back the characters were flawed and a bad example, but there's something about this being on TV and all us teens experiencing it at the same time without interference from social media - socials were there but were a tool, it didn't completely interrupt the experience.

It’s funny how this tune captures an element of your teenage years. It encapsulates that wide eyed feeling of entering your early adulthood, into the growing as a person as you really begin to branch out and experience what life has to offer. It felt nostalgic when I was a teenager watching it, and it feels even more poignant and nostalgic now that I’m almost 30. The music feels as familiar as those years do, a memory that you look back on with a smile and a bashful shake of the head, thinking about how grown up and adult you felt.

It literally almost brings me to tears to think that there are no more new seasons, no more new episodes, no more new Skins. I used to think Skins was so odd. Then I started to really like it. As i get older I come to realize skins ( generation 1 basically) is a great show. The generation 1 was so well-written! I really like the fact that in season 1 they’re all so stereotyped: Tony the narcissist leader abusing its power, Sid the looser sidekick, Cassie the crazy one, Michelle the naive one, Chris the silly one, Jal the steady and examplary student, Maxxie the nice one.. and in season 2 all those “stereotypes” shatter. We get to see how vulnerable Tony is, we get to see Sid stand up for himself and embrace who he is and what he, he only, wants. We get to see that Maxxie can bite back when you push it to hard ( with Amy for instance), Chris who was pictured as the idiot one gets a place and a job of his own, mans up and get a girl he really likes. Jal allows herself to be irrational and selfish. Michelle puts Tony in the waiting list and isn’t its puppy anymore as she allows herself to fuck his best friend. Also, we get to understand that Cassie isn’t that crazy, its like shes saying “you people are the ones crazy being so shady and selfish”.. That’s also why generation 2 and Fire didn’t do it for me. It was all about Effy and even though in season 4 we get to see the bad girl thing crumbles.. it was poor script. Same in Season 7! Once again she uses her beauty to get what she wants and everyone falls in love with her and blablabla.. Such a pity, why not see her struggling as she no longer can use her looks to go places. Why not see that she has the brains and get to see her use it for once. Why not see boys tell her no? Damn, Fire was bad.. Anyways, I hope somebody gets my point haha

Agree with you. Katie, Cook and JJ were the only well written characters in Generation 2 who managed to shatter their "stereotypes". Emily and Naomi apart from their sexuality didn't have much to offer. Effy continued being a complex character while Freddie, Pandora and Thomas were so predictable. I could say even Generation 3 was better.

Today is November 21-2024, I’m 28 years old now but I remember watching this show when I was like 9-10 years old. Skins has a special place in my heart, it showed what teenage era reality looks like. All the characters, specially gen 2, love them dearly. Wish they will do a comeback reunion and or episode about them thereabouts, well season 7 was nostalgic but those endings sad as only Skins can do. Miss you guys🩷✨

This theme is so perfect! Segal really captures the teenage essence. The building iterations of the motif convey trying to fit in and struggling to do so. Fantastic work

Fat Segal is just so good at capturing the emotion. I’m rewatching skins now again in my 20s. I just smile listening to this music. The weird time period in which we all dealt with adolescence, segal just captured this feeling all too well. Now it’s the sound of nostalgia for me

Something about this tune is magical. Sometimes making me even cry. Every time I start to play this I get some kind of amazing spark in my whole body and mind. This show is been with me when I was really low and really high in my life. I always say that this is kind of shitty but still soo freaking good show, Skins watchers knows this. I hope that they would make more episodes of this.

I discovered this show in my early teens just as it was ending in 2013, and it really did shape me for years to come. This show was my life for a while, I had experiences similar but not as wild as the kids in the show. I seriously cannot believe it ended almost 10 years ago, that literally blows my mind. Time is going so quickly, I'm almost in my mid-20s. God, life is so strange yet really beautiful. Memories flood in like a broken dam, thank you Skins for shaping my life. I will always accredit a good chunk of my adolescent knowledge growing up to this show, many thanks and a million hearts

skins is such a beautiful series. nothing will ever compare to it. the show itself is very interesting and super enjoyable. the vibes and energy it gives are immaculate. skins intro’s are always super nostalgic to me, i remember watching s1, e1 for the first time ever and hearing the intro just blessed my ears. though i can’t remember anything with a similar tune to skins it’s just so… nostalgic you know? watching skins at a young age messed up truly, even though i was in one of the worst points in my life watching skins i still miss the feeling. its probably cause of the happy tune the intro gives off? idk.

Skins really has changed UK television forever! There will never be anything like it again. I will always have a soft spot for it. It was so beautiful that teenagers could relate to it and it was so beautifully written and acted! Best UK drama ever invented! I really miss it! :)
