Portland Trail Blazers’ great Clyde Drexler was one of Michael Jordan’s longtime rivals during their playing days, and it was showcased during 'The Last Dance' documentary. Drexler responds to MJ being offended by comparisons to him and not being a team player. Skip explains why Jordan's record speaks for itself and he doesn't need to defend him.

Clyde wasn’t wrong. MJ didn’t really start playing true team ball until Phil came to the Chicago and even then MJ had to be cajoled and begged to play the triangle (team ball). Had MJ kept on playing the style that Collins had him playing, MJ would not have won more than two chips.

Yes. Completely trashed Clyde like he was Harold Minor. Drexler was only painted as an MJ clone by the media. Clyde didn't pattern his game anywhere near MJ's. Clyde was a triple double threat every night. MJ was not. Drexler and the Blazers made it to the finals 1st and got beat up by the same Pistons that owned MJ and the Bulls. The next season they swept those Bulls in the season series (neither game was close) on their way to a league best 63-19 record. Then they did the unthinkable and did not approach that aging Lakers team the same way they handled them in the regular season. That allowed those Bulls to have an easy time in the Finals. The "what if" game dictates that the 91 Finals would have gone much differently if the Blazers would have just handled the business.

Typical Shannon blowing out of proportion. Jordan simply said in the Doc that made me mad when he was being compared to me. Basically just said that is what was motivating him at the time. He didn't say he disliked Clyde or Clyde wasn't a good player he just felt he was better and when the media at the time was saying should be a good match up and that they were the same he used that as motivation to try and show nope I am way better than him. Why is there something wrong with that? When media was saying well you know Lebron never plays 82 games he always takes some of the regular season off and doesnt play defense...etc. So what has lebron started doing.. Playing all games this year he started playing defense in the regular season...etc. Its no different really if you are going to knock the greats or compare them to someone they think they are better than what do you think they are going to do.

Game 1! That is ALL everyone brings up. I happen to remember there were 5 other games played in that series.... and it was not the beat down that everyone brings up in game 1. Game 2 Clyde made up for his poor performance. Game 3 Clyde's teammates let him down (BJ Armstrong outplayed Terry Porter) Game 4 Clyde shut Mike down in the 4th to get that one. Game 5 was another letdown by his teammates. Game 6 was a total team collapse of epic proportion. Up 15 heading into the 4th quarter and they allowed the Bulls bench to erase that lead. Let's also not mention that when MJ said "I took it to him every night." No you didn't dude. You're believing your own hype. Drexler and Mike guarded each in the 1st and 4th quarters to save their energy for offensive production. Pippen was guarding Drexler most of the time. Porter and Kersey guarded MJ most of the time. The series was won because of better team play.

Everybody just as mad at Jordan today as they were when they couldn't win rings while he was playing...lol... And this played out exactly how us in Chicago thought about the players... We thought Scottie Pippen and Horace were soft... And they're showing that we were right ... They're mad about what they themselves did... And we liked Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr... The most bad stuff were probably spoken about them... Only difference is that Kerr stood up for himself... And if you pay attention they aren't mad...lol... Only thing Horace and Scottie are doing is proving the documentary right... There's a reason Steve Kerr is in the position he's in... And there's a reason that Dennis Rodman is consistently on a destructive course in his life... They've owned who they are and aren't mad about the situation and what the documentary displayed about them... And their characters which were on full display in the documentary are playing out today... As are Horace's and Scotties....

Clyde was an awesome player... everyone knew that...it's just that they were in the playoffs, Jordan and Clyde played the same position, similar in play style somewhat....Mike just wanted people to know the difference that's all... don't think there was any disrespect.

Maybe no intentional disrespect....but maybe MJ needs/needed to say just that instead of making people decipher or debate what he meant by any given comment because obviously several people over the years have felt disrepected or belittled by MJ.

Jealousy? Common man! Clyde was not jealous. Clyde knew Jordan was better. Clyde always pays respect to jordan but jordan crossed the line by saying clyde was nothing compared to him. Clyde only defended himself by saying he was pretty good himself. But people got to say he is jealous. So what is he supposed to do just allow jordan to say that he was nothing and he was offended people compared both of them. That's disrespectful. Because clyde was always respectful up to that point.

There are people that said he left in the mid 90's because he knew they couldn't beat Houston. And it is said he had a hard time against the Rockets and they got better the years he left. I don't think that's why he left but enough analyst from the era have stated that they believe the Houston Rockets would have won those back to back championships they won.

I find it hilarious that a guy with one ring as a role player believes that a man with 6 rings and 6 finals MVPs doesn't get the team concept. Also there is no comparison. Jordan was more of a leader. More entertaining. More of an efficient scorer on more shots. A better defender. More clutch. Clyde Drexler was a great player but there are levels to this.

@Nice One They tried Drexler on Jordan. Jordan went at him. Then tried Terry Porter on Jordan so that Drexler wouldn't get frustrated on defense and have it affect his offense. That was a much anticipated match up of Jordan and Drexler as well as the Bulls vs the Blazers. But Jordan showed that there was a clear separation, and much wider than people realized, after that series. Shannon is using this to passively use this in his obsession with elevating LeBron. But in his trying to use Wilt in what is supposed to be a Jordan/Drexler subject, is that Jordan changed the opinion that you weren't going to even get close to a championship without the dominant 7 foot big man. And during a time when there was Hakeem, Ewing, David Robinson, Shaquille, Jordan did what he did with back up quality centers of Willington and Luc Longely. But make no mistake, Bill Cartwright was a good player and crucial to the rings they got when he was playing.

MJ was miles ahead of Drexlar both in his play & mentally. To put this into comparison using today's players nobody says 2019 Derozan is close to as good as 2019 Kawhi. It's obvious they aren't close & Kawhi is the far superior player both in his play & mentally.
