Clyde wasn’t wrong. MJ didn’t really start playing true team ball until Phil came to the Chicago and even then MJ had to be cajoled and begged to play the triangle (team ball). Had MJ kept on playing the style that Collins had him playing, MJ would not have won more than two chips.

Yes. Completely trashed Clyde like he was Harold Minor. Drexler was only painted as an MJ clone by the media. Clyde didn't pattern his game anywhere near MJ's. Clyde was a triple double threat every night. MJ was not. Drexler and the Blazers made it to the finals 1st and got beat up by the same Pistons that owned MJ and the Bulls. The next season they swept those Bulls in the season series (neither game was close) on their way to a league best 63-19 record. Then they did the unthinkable and did not approach that aging Lakers team the same way they handled them in the regular season. That allowed those Bulls to have an easy time in the Finals. The "what if" game dictates that the 91 Finals would have gone much differently if the Blazers would have just handled the business.

@Nice One They tried Drexler on Jordan. Jordan went at him. Then tried Terry Porter on Jordan so that Drexler wouldn't get frustrated on defense and have it affect his offense. That was a much anticipated match up of Jordan and Drexler as well as the Bulls vs the Blazers. But Jordan showed that there was a clear separation, and much wider than people realized, after that series. Shannon is using this to passively use this in his obsession with elevating LeBron. But in his trying to use Wilt in what is supposed to be a Jordan/Drexler subject, is that Jordan changed the opinion that you weren't going to even get close to a championship without the dominant 7 foot big man. And during a time when there was Hakeem, Ewing, David Robinson, Shaquille, Jordan did what he did with back up quality centers of Willington and Luc Longely. But make no mistake, Bill Cartwright was a good player and crucial to the rings they got when he was playing.

Drexler's objection was 100% on point and justified. First, Jordan's "documentary" didn't put the Jordan vs. Drexler debate in proper context. For the 1991-92 NBA season, Jordan was named MVP and Drexler was runner-up. Both were named to first team All-NBA that season. What really sparked the talk of Drexler being a challenge to Jordan's throne was the 1992 All-Star game. Magic Johnson's emotional return to play in the game and win the All-Star MVP is most remembered. What gets obscured in the glow of Magic's miraculous return was the fact that Drexler outscored Jordan 22-18 in a spirited, head-to-head duel. Drexler didn't destroy Jordan, but clearly outplayed him in a primetime nationally televised game. For the first time, there was talk that another athletic 2-guard was a rival to Jordan for MVP. The NBA media began banging the drum for Drexler, who deserved the attention, due to years of playing in the shadow of Magic Johnson and the Lakers in the conference. Jordan never acknowledged why he sought revenge on Drexler. Jordan's "Last Dance" also obscured the fact that the Bulls-Trailblazers finals series went six games - actually being tied at 2-2 before the Bulls won the last two games. Furthermore, after being held to 16 points in game one, Drexler averaged 26.6 points over the next five games. His 24.8 series average was just below his 25.0 regular season average, so he wasn't shut down or obliterated by Jordan and the Bulls. The other superstars that Jordan and the Bulls vanquished [Magic, Barkley, Payton, Malone, even Reggie Miller] were given far more attention, recognition and commentary opportunities than Drexler - although Drexler was the only first team All-NBA 2-guard that Jordan ever faced in the Finals. Jordan reduced Drexler to a shrug. Drexler was 100 was correct in his objection.

Why is there something wrong with that? When media was saying well you know Lebron never plays 82 games he always takes some of the regular season off and doesnt play defense...etc. So what has lebron started doing.. Playing all games this year he started playing defense in the regular season...etc. Its no different really if you are going to knock the greats or compare them to someone they think they are better than what do you think they are going to do.

Skip completely misunderstood the point made by Drexler. Just because you aren't the best of all time doesn't mean you can't make any comments at all about other players. Drexler hasn't ever said a bad word about anyone - I'm almost positive. Makes zero sense to attack him.

No Skip, Jordan wasn’t away playing baseball when Clyde won. Jordan couldn’t play baseball.

Yea Jordan only played 17 games that season we know what happened the next year. Clyde has to go to Hakeem to win. None of them won in the 90s when Jordan played a full season
