Jason, I never have been very good at front squats and never liked this exercise. I have hit 1030 lbs on back squats off and on for the last 15 years. Compensatory acceleration is what I refer to as speed squats. And, yes speed squats build power through the speed and acceleration of much lighter percentages of the one-rep max. Jason, I agree with you on everything. I usually do 15-30 weeks of DB-emphasized programming to recruit and strengthen stabilizer muscles. Then I will hammer a 6-9 week training regimen with heavily concentrated strength and power work with barbell training. At age 52, I really do not consistently hammer heavy barbell movements. Excellent insight here Jason. Take care, Jason. Dr. Dustin Turley

I actually find lunges to be easiest to balance.I have a lot more balance problems on split squats and step ups than on lunges.

You've always said you despise the supplement industry and don't rate any supplement apart from just protein powder I think as a convenience tool and maybe creatine as a just in case it works because creatine is cheap. Do you still take that stance? There are two natural compounds called ecdysterone and turkesterone promoted by team3d alpha, and acknowledged by more plates more dates as being potentially effective for some individuals based on individual response. They can be consumed in capsule form. According to team3dalpha incorporating quinoa and spinach which are rich in ecdysterone are sufficient to have steroid like affects without the drawbacks.

I would not take Migan too seriously. I used to clown him back in the day for getting basic exercise science terms wrong and making long videos repeatedly using them incorrectly then trying to build stupid training systems off his misuse and misunderstanding of basic concepts. Nothing has streoid-like affects without drawbacks btw.

Yes in addition to you dying young. It was the primary cause of my mother passing at age 48. Never smoke anything.

I cannot agree with you more coach. I just started SSB box squats. Tears my hips up. Hip thrusts for sets of 455 to actually feel the soreness in my glutes and SSB bar good mornings for my upper back. Not going much higher than 225 for now. I’ve never done gear in my life but the way my squat is shooting up I imagine this must be how it feels like. I also should mention I just started doing glute ham raises since my new gym has them. Wow. They are effective. Need to be already strong to do them though.

You said that conjugate and linear programmes shouldn't be mixed. Can you give an example of what such mixing would look like so we know what to avoid?

Hey Jason, what do you think about Pin Squats? Are they as good as Box Squats from the same height? Can they be used for DE as well as Box Squats?
@JasonBlaha3 жыл бұрын
They have a role for ME. They absolutely cannot replace the box squat and are not the same thing. No you should not use them for DE imo.

Hey coach, great video! Just wondering what numbers are you chasing for when you decide to step on the platform in a competition, and at what weight class will you compete at? Also do you have any plan for when you might compete, or are playing that by ear? Thanks coach!
@JasonBlaha3 жыл бұрын
I'm not discussing any details in public. Given that I am cutting you can conclude I would be doing a lighter class than 220 because serious competitors cut at least 12-15 lbs of water for comp.
