In France by this time it was almost impossible to find GW miniatures, one of our friend says that he will go Jersey Island for vacation we gave him almost all our savings so in can purchased all he can found, he came back 2 weeks later with a bag full of minis Orks, Elves And those Chaos knights, they have been for many years the core of my Chaos army even if the painting was an unintentional tribute to Nurgle Thx for raising all those memories and fun times 😊

I like that in 80s every chaos warriors has his own armor style. Nothing to blame to iconic bulking northern warrior immortalized by Adrian Smith, they are great, but for me Chaos Warriors need some variety.
@tappajavittu Жыл бұрын
Exactly, it's CHAOS, it should be a incomprehensible hodgepodge of different styles and armor pieces just thrown together with no care. Chaos, not order, that's what GW has forgotten.

Love these Warhammer history videos. The name "Papworth Organgrinder" was actually topical satire in the 80s. The Royal Papworth Hospital was where the UK's first successful heart transplant operation was carried out (1979) followed by the world's first heart, lung and liver transplant (1986). The GWAR reference also brought a smile to this old face.

Big nostalgia hit. Thanks. The distinction between marauders & chaos warriors is in the 3rd ed Armies book. Marauders we’re mid tier between what we’re listed as “Thugs” in the list & Chaos warriors as the most elite infantry unit in the list. They ditched “chaos Thugs” and retitled them as marauders in later editions. The Mid level heat armoured Marauders then disappeared & we’re absorbed as warriors.

It’s amazing how casting quality and details increased with the « slotta » based minis. 87-91 are the magical years for Citadel in my book.

I've always like those old late 80's early 90's chaos warriors and champions. When they started dividing them between the four chaos gods, I really think Slaanesh got the best ones with lots of really interesting and unique sculpts.
@Kevin.Mitchell Жыл бұрын
Excellent! I have a few of these as the mid to late 80s is when all my pocket money went on Citadel / GW minis. It's also why Samantha Phox brought a smile to my face!

Love these old figures... They are so cool ! At 1:00 , the "fellow in the center there" is also very similar to the "Chaos Sorcerer" from the original HeroQuest Game from the 80's. The pose, the robe, even the helmet, to a certain extent... But the two axes are definitely 'Slambo'.

Papworth Organgrinder - "Surgeons at Papworth Hospital went on to carry out world 'firsts' in the field of transplantation - including the world's first heart, lung and liver transplant in 1986" geddit?

These are awesome! You have inspired me to look up Slambo and other Chaos warriors in the 3d printing realm. Also, these figures look like the types of warriors that Forbidden Psalm was made for.

God I love these kind of sculpts. I picked up a 3d printer last year but 90% of the models I find online are swimming in details and fiddily bits that I have no interest in painting. I wish someone would release models more in line with this style. By the way, where dyou source all these classic minis? Did you buy them when they were new or find hunt them down online?
@oldhammered Жыл бұрын
Hi Thom. I bought a fair amount of GW stuff in the late '80s, early '90s. (Much of it still unpainted. Ugh.) Then I sort of collected a lot of second hand items over the ensuing decades. Craig's List used to be a good source. Etsy often has some interesting items. eBay of course, though it's easy to overpay. I've had good luck with both Dakka and Bartertown. Folks have also recommended Troll Trader, though I haven't bought from them yet.

"90% of the models I find online are swimming in details and fiddily bits that I have no interest in painting. I wish someone would release models more in line with this style. " Totally agree with you, so many of these .stl ranges feel like they've been made by video game asset artists moonlighting for some on the side income. Too much shit on them, with poses that are awful to handle when on the table, like there's been NO thought given to them as gaming pieces at all.
@GoatTheGoat Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Almost all 3D print models have way, way, way too much detail. All that detail actually looks bad unless you are holding the model six inches in front of your eye. I want models that look good on the table. That means simple is better.

Just happened to be looking up old chaos miniatures so I'm getting these miniatures names off wikis. Krayos Dleth (Top Left), Kyrax Doomquake (Top Right), Droog Warfiend (Bottom Right). Bottom Left doesn't seem to have had a name (Halberd - Champions of Tzeentch).

@@GoatTheGoat lol, it is a matter of perspective; especially when they are NOT the only figures on the gaming table....that IS the point. ;)
@GoatTheGoat Жыл бұрын
@@GrumblingGrognard I don't get it. What other figures would be on the gaming table other than Warhammer Fantasy figures?
@GrumblingGrognard Жыл бұрын
@@GoatTheGoat Different figure manufacturers scale their figures (and indeed the lines of figures themselves sometimes) differently. It is more than simply "25mm" vs "28mm" vs "32mm" figures. The perspective is how the figures appear on the table (and in many cases) in the same unit side-by-side. GW does not hold copyright on fantasy figure gaming (entirely, yet).
@GoatTheGoat Жыл бұрын
@@GrumblingGrognard The scale of Warhammer Fantasy was clearly defined by GW through the models they sold for the game. If you are using models that don't match the scale of actual Warhammer Fantasy models then you are doing it wrong.

No doubt. Our challenge is that the battle reports are a ton of work to produce, but they haven't been getting many views lately. I don't know if that's a viewer preference thing or an algorithm thing, but obviously we can't put 40 to 50 hours of work into something if only 2,500 people are going to watch it. Meanwhile, the Warhammer outrage channels out there are raking in the views...
@radeksmid6593 Жыл бұрын
@@oldhammered Yeah, I know. It's a sad cycle - Sword / Space Weirdos are not known so much, as nobody is really talking about them. And nobody is talking about them, because they are not widely known and the algorithm punishes you for that... I have really no other solution, as name these videos so that the algorithm showes them - any Sword Weirdos videos could be named with "Mordheim" in their title, for example. Yeah, it's not right and a bit of a click bate... but could help, maybe?
@oldhammered Жыл бұрын
Our first Space Weirdos videos did pretty well, but after that they tapered off. It's a real shame too, because there are lots of great indie games we could cover if the audience was there.
