You know you could put a door in your skirting, like people do with their mobile homes, so you can still utilize under the trailer for storage.

Don't you do what we do in Scotland and Lag your pipes when. You know the temperature is going to drop? You can use polyethylene foam, cheap as chips in the DIY stores.
@judelarson8462 жыл бұрын
If it goes below freezing in your area -you might want to use heat tape to wrap the pipes and then wrap insulation over top of the tape which is wound around the pipes.

Glad you kids will be warm for winter. Who cares what it looks like at least you'll be warm. It actually doesn't look so bad. Wow the door for the tanks looks really good. Kyle do not paint it. Yep it’s time for a storage shed. You may not have time for that however, maybe you can find a used shipping container like some of your fellow KZbinrs. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about moving stuff back-and-forth crammed into a little space. Plus, it might come in handy in the future for some other use.

WATER PIPES AND INSULATION TIPS: Let your faucets drip overnight and leave any cabinet doors that have water pipes open at night(and daytime also if below freezing outside). You might want to leave bathroom door open when super cold out. Parking your vehicless around the camper on the north side as a wind break may help. You might want to check your upper cabinets, closets, bench seats and under your bed for any way to Insulate those areas. Maybe use your clothes, extra blankets or bed clothes as a way to Insulate those areas a bit. Typically lined blackout curtains are heavy duty curtains(you may have to do your own modification to make them fit the camper windows. Lastly, Reflectix Insulation is a great option for making temporary, reusable, on/off windows and door coverings for night-time and alsi great for using on indoor water pipes (save them for summer too) Stay warm y'all!!!

Leave your faucets dripping and doors open under the sink to add a little more protection. So glad you got it skirted! While I will not say skirting is good. My experience has been you do not absolutely have to have it. I have lived in my camper for over 5 years in the mountains of NewMexico. Never have I skirted my camper. What I found more important than any thing was to get an rv rated heated water hose. I watch people here try the heat tape trick and then have so many problems with it. My water only freezes when it gets below 20. When it gets below that I turn on my facets to drip and all is good. Your 20 gallon tanks of propane will be the other problem. Get something larger. Maybe 100. That is what I use. They last about 2 weeks in my climate. That is why I have 2. One runs out and you have a few days to get the other refilled. With snow a foot deep or worse at times this has worked for me. Then some of the reflective material for the windows and you should be good. Anyway everyone has their own method. Good luck in your venture.

Back in the day when you could still get incandescent bulbs, we used to hang a 40 watt trouble light under where the bathroom was and another under where the kitchen was. This kept the floors and tanks warm. Nowadays they have a heat mat for the tanks that you can plug in to suppliment the heat tape. You might want to be wrapping your gray and black water plumbing... nothing worse than a winter black tank freeze up, only to find it thawing in the spring and spewing under you. (Shudder, voice of experience) Love and blessings you guys! As a fellow perfectionist and tending to over engineering my solutions, gotta say you are on the right track!
