When I rat ack with groups like that I always fall into formation skiing... synch, counter synch... line ski, synch and counter synch... figure 8 synch/ counter synch/ race cars. If you don't know of or have ever seen race cars it looks like a collision is eminent on every turn. All skiers in the formations have to know the rules, who is their cue and never break cue. Interski tries to encourage formation skiing but the routines are too cluttered with affects of nationalism and not really good skiiing. Except the Swiss, my favorite team I trained with at Mammoth a life time of pleasure from those memories.

No to be too snarky, but if you're into that sort of thing why not take up racing? You can ski aggressively on a closed course in ways that you simply can't (at least not safely) "all mountain". Speaking as an ex-racer who's still known to free-ski on 210 SGs now and then...

Yeah I'm 52, and I've come to really appreciate how the new 20 & 30 something generation can really haul ass and rip and SEND IT! I was thinking Jim was the total MAN with those sweet Shifties, I'm very jealous just started adding some Freestyle to my Freeride this spring. But Tim with his sick Japan with the tweak was awesome! RThis is how I skied back in 1977 . We did the gondola run at Killington in 7 minutes!!!!!!!!!! Moguls were to turn, and jump over 4-5 at a time. What a great year: I crossed my tips on March 23rd, and never skied again.

Some skiers that are good at all-around skiing. Carving, moguls, etc. Nice. Always had a great feeling about Volkl skis and they were my dream brand when I was younger and working in a ski shop. Alas, could not afford them back then and they didn't do proform.

When I made my living ski patrolling I would play music in my mind to match the task. Very heavy classical music for tucking, especially when the thighs were burning. The moguls called for speed metal to quicken my reacton time. It worked very well! .... and yeah Stairway to Heaven in bottomless powder.

Sick content. Love the fact that this is oriented towards freeskiing. Maybe you should try and also do a lesser edited version in the spirit of videos like “Art of the Arc” with Ted Ligety or “Art of the turn” by Salomon. More precisely, I think a simple 2 minute video of pure nonstop carving shredding without any change of camera angles would be awesome.

2:33 If you want to know what skiing is all about, play this at .25 speed. Skiing is Not what it looks like, it is about what you do to make it look like that. She is Not rolling her ankles over, which by the way is physically impossible. She is not "Tipping" her knees to the side, which by the way, they are not designed to do, and she is not twisting or steering her feet. 2:35 Her skis are taking her feet to her left with her weight and balance on the right foot. When she wants to start a new turn, she stops the travel of her upper body across the slope and parks it back in the fall line. Thus, the leg angle change begins. Her feet continue across the slope and when her legs are in the vertical position, she changes her weight from her right to her left foot. The skis continue across the slope and as the leg angle change is completed, the skis roll over and the left ski controls the new turn. That is how you think about skiing from a beginner to a world class racer. You make a new turn by repositioning your upper body from your eyes down, not from your feet up. That is how easy skiing is to understand and do. The skis make the turns, not you.
