The colour is stunning, I don't see what you are all complaining about... if it was on an Audi RS6 you would all be changing your tune
@hayden9904 жыл бұрын
Yeh but it isn’t, that’s probably why everyone hates it. I like it very much
@cjp95968 жыл бұрын
Worrying lack of substance behind many of these comments... "don't like the colour" etc etc etc. It's actually the same grey that Audi use on the R8 and Q2. Bet people don't complain when it's on those cars. For every person that dislikes it there's someone who likes it - hey, at least it's interesting.

I have a Mk 1 vRS estate with the 20 valve engine........ With a remap of the ECU it is a great car to play with.41!k miles when I bought it 12 years ago and only 102k miles now it is less than half way through it's life and is as fast now as when I bought it. THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER BOUGHT and it is now starting to appreciate in vaue.... plus it is a rare car that cost £6750 twelve years ago ! Service it regularly and properly with the fully synthetic oil and it will last for over 300k miles..... This particular vRS is mis-quoted as having 217 bhp when it has, according to Suoerchips, actually been tested at 191 because the car in the video is the diesel version. It is the petrol one that is quoted as 217 but which actually tests out at over 260 and when remapped can deliver 310bhp without any mechanical tuning...... Petrol engines go much better than diesel and are not as polluting !

I like the review but the sting is always when automotive journalists recommend a diesel. You all seem to ignore that the last ~18 months has happened and don't even mention it, the extra residual value you'll lose due to the reputation hit, or the medium-long term risks if cities start to ban diesel cars (which looks increasingly likely and has already happened in Paris occasionally).
@finbenton8 жыл бұрын
Atleast here in Finland it didnt hit the prices at all and VW group diesels are way more reliable then their gas versions. Those 1.8T and 2.0T petrols are known to start eating tons of oil after 50-100t km so its a no-go.
@MartinLV.8 жыл бұрын
Alex Graham they put their heads in sand and prtend tdi is cool... lpg might help with daily costs and please ignore 20k mile 30k km servicing and do it every 6k miles and 10k km then the engines will outlast warranty and go another 400k miles or 600k km... as the made in 80 - 90's cars do.
@JMNTN8 жыл бұрын
Cities only ban old diesels, my 2012 vw golf 1.6 liter diesel has lower emissions than my sister's 2014 audi a1 1.4 liter gasoline

At the start of this vid, you say that the Octavia Estate VRS may not have 'the largest boot in the class', could you therefore tell me which car has a bigger boot in this class please? Because I'm struggling to find anything that backs up your claim that anything in this class has more than 610 litres!!! Sure the Peugeot 308SW has 660 litres, but apart from the diesel version Peugeot, does not offer a petrol performance estate as the VRS is, so hardly constitutes as it being in the same Class of vehicle.
@tomaspetterssonnordling32248 жыл бұрын
My 2016 Octavia vRS TDI184 4x4 estate has a totally different boot than the car reviewed in this video. In my car the floor of the boot can be raised or lowered (in raised mode I get a perfectly flat loading bay with the backseats lowered). Is the british version really different than my car (bought in Sweden)?
@chatanmistry218 жыл бұрын
I had the previous generation VRS estate in diesel form and it was brilliant. My only complaint was the 18inch wheels and ride it gave. Has anyone any thoughts as to whether the new one softens the general ride? I guess the new driving modes (which I didn't have) would help?
@ramgabriel53378 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. The driving mode only changes the way the engine delivers power, AC consumption and steering "hardness" (along with fake engine noise). I have made already a long trip with the car and the comfort surprised me. I think the seats compensate the stiffness of the wheels and suspension, though you hear the holes on the road more than the "normal" version. For the same price, I couldn't find anything better (for my standards). Hope I helped.

Every skoda review mentions the ice scraper/door umbrella/pop out light/torch.... I know it's a nice touch but, Get over it. When paying £20k-£30k for a car, these £2 items are irrelevant
@richardkerry2466 жыл бұрын
An umbrella or ice scraper would probably add another £200 on a BMW so why not emphasise the fact they're standard on the Skoda?

"The best of both worlds" is a marketing speak for "jack of all trades, fails at all". It's a car for people who have no interest in cars, they just need a car. And vRS Skodas are bought only by blindfolded loyalists. It's supposed to be sporty, but it's a FWD cancer-emitting diesel estate. Rubbish. And the gasoline variant is just... OK I guess. "Quick enough" sounds about right. And boring.
