Skoolie wiring removal is SO incredibly tedious.
There are an incredible amount of wires and if your skoolie is anything like ours - it's a total mess!
We've started working on wiring removal off and on, because it's so incredibly boring and quite scary (at least for me).
I am always terrified we are going to cut a wire we need, but as long as we turn the bus back on after each big section we pull - and everything still works - I'll count that as a win!
No major tools needed - just wire cutters and needle nose pliers - and because we already had those tools - this job cost $0 to complete.

Will help in future when on the road after conversion. If you don't have the bunch of random unused wires confusing you when trying to troubleshoot issues later

Yikes we disconnected wires to our skoolie and cannot figure out how to get the rear lights to come back on. Any insight on figuring out the wires to connect the back lights to is appreciated 🙏

We actually ran into this issue too. Ours were fine and working and then we wired our floodlights in (the back one to tie into reverse lights) and when we tested it...it worked and now it doesn’t. I think there is a short in the circuit somewhere? The wires by the taillight are rough...so we need to replace it and see. All I can say is run every single wire back from where it starts to the fuse box, check fuses, etc. it’s time consuming, but the only way to figure it out. Good luck, I know it’s frustrating

Just wondering because I love school buses and the electrical stuff...What did you do with those switches that was on that panel that you didn’t need...If you could give those and the panel w/shell to me, it would REALLY make me happy...Also, love the work you guys are doing...new subscriber...And plan on staying...😁

Some bus conversions decided to keep the switch for front heater to defog the windshield and I think I heard you say you're removing yours. I'm curious if you have had an issue with fogging?

Super good question and one I don’t think we can accurately answer as we are still in the build process and don’t drive it an incredible amount of time yet. We’ve yet to encounter a situation where it mattered and I know there are after-market products you can buy to mitigate the issue, but I can’t offer more input than that. I will say, I know Shane and I don’t regret the decisions we made as far as getting rid of those “debatable” items like the a/c, heater, etc simply because of the insane amount of space they took up. Hope that’s at least mildly helpful. 🤞🏼

@@TheMcBrowns I guess if you decide to chase warmer climate in the winters or not live in it in the winter defogger is useless anyway. Best of luck.

I think your going to miss cruise control on long trips like I 10
@TheMcBrowns
@TheMcBrowns 3 жыл бұрын
That's ENTIRELY possible. I left that decision up to Shane since he will be the one driving.

Cruise control? Not sure that was correct. That was your throttle accelerator and decelerator for idle speed adjustment. You wanted to keep that.
@TheMcBrowns
@TheMcBrowns 3 жыл бұрын
If we are talking about the same thing, it was a cruise control option that was never even connected. Maybe it was an option they didn’t pay to have installed, so it was essentially a dead button. I’ll definitely re-check the manual in the morning to make sure we didn’t accidentally do anything stupid. Thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching!!

The McBrowns Yeah I have the same bus as you that’s how I found you on KZbin. Unfortunately I’m about 99% sure you cut your throttle switch which allows you to change the speed of your idle. If you still have the switches you should try to reconnect them.
@euchrewacko
@euchrewacko 3 жыл бұрын
Also, in cold weather to avoid engine damage the manufacturer recommends that you maintain a minimum 1250 RPM idle speed. You’ll need those two throttle switches to achieve that. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

@@euchrewacko if we are talking about the same time in the video (1:05-ish) - that was a cruise control - we checked and re-checked. Although our buses may be similar, there are often some differences. I took a picture to show you (because we still have the actual wires...and even on those it says "cruise - ON/OFF" for one and "SET/RESUME" for the other one - I can't attached a photo here, apparently, but as far as we can tell - we did not remove any throttle switches...but we will keep looking to make sure we didn't get rid of anything important. Would love to see your bus! Are you tracking progress on an IG account or anything? We love seeing what others are doing with buses like ours. Thanks again for reaching out - it's nice to have people keeping an eye out for us! ☺👍
