At 5:30, the 3 extra damage the horse took from the chili won you that round. Still not a great food, but kinda cool.

Chili has its synergies. It’s nice on pets that have actions on knockout, like rhino. Because it’s chance to get extra knockouts and trigger more activations more quickly. It’s also nice on a pet that’s in front of a Snake. Or anywhere on a sniping team. Reason being, it is additional damage to the non-front pet combined with the sniping damage, which increases the probability that a pet is knocked out before it even gets to attack. Example, on a team with a level 3 skunk, a well-placed chili lands the finishing hit before the pet the skunk hit has a chance to attack. See an example of chili/snake synergy take out the giraffe before it can attack during the round at 7:26. (Not that it mattered)

It's ability when leveled up is actually useful in later rounds for getting rid of melon armor. Level 3 mosquitoe can destroy 3 melons, which is 60 less damage you need to inflict on the opposing team.
