Im from Slovenia and i was in Yougoslav army in Macedonia,while it was still part of Yougoslavia. I served military in Kumanovo,near Skopje. I have very nice memories on Macedonia and its people. For us in Slovenia,Macedonia was always our most southern republic. We never even knew that exists other Macedonia in Greece. I can"t understand all this fighting because of the name. In ancient times all this was Macedonia,from both sides of the border. There was no Greeks or Slavs. It was different world. Why can"t exist two Macedonias? Republic of Macedonia and Greek region of Macedonia. It"s so easy to understand. Imagine that USA would claim that they have exclusive right of the name America and that South America and Central America can"t use that name! That"s insane!

I've been to North Macedonia last month and I found it beautiful. I also like the ethnic and religious diversity that country has. The Old Bazaar is the area I liked the most in Skopje, and Ohrid was fantastic as well, with all its medieval churches. A must-see.

I want to visit it so badly. Literally obsessed with its beauty. Even had a presentation about it in my class. What made me to explore a bit before I was given presentation were some Macedonian musicians, and stories that my mum tells me how Macedonians are very nice people, so there's that. Plus I read one travel diary on one travel blog and it blew me away the way she wrote about Macedonia really praising it, and sharing beautiful details about it.

Great vid! Yes, I love the old town (Pazaar), and the market (Bit Pazaar). Unfortunately, there are gypsies begging that are not of Macedonian ethnicity, however, they will not bother you if you walk past, or say NO. The food in the bazaar is cheap and lovely. And there are many traditional Macedonian restaurants as well as Turkish. Lovely mix. The statues - LOL - yes - a lot. But they are all a part of Macedonian history, and it is IMPORTANT to know this. Especially the youth. As a certain country that neighbours us tries to eliminate us, we must REMEMBER our roots, history, heroes and artists! THANKS for sharing. Macedonia is a small country, with over 7000 years of history! The world needs to know us! We welcome you all!

Nice video! I think it would have been worth mentioning that almost 1/3 of the population in FYROM is Albanian (predominantly the west) which is also why Mother Teresa is an ethnic Albanian and a huge idol to us, even though we have mosques. We respect all religions :)

To start I’d like to say I’m not looking for an argument but for this comment I’ll be referring to the country as Macedonia. Ok so to start my great grandparents moved from Macedonia in I believe the early 1900’s to come to the United States where my family lives. From what my mom can remember she told me that she remembered her dad saying that they lived somewhere called Patele (don’t know the spelling so don’t attack me). We’ve spent some time trying to figure out where it is and we’ve come to a conclusion that it has probably been renamed. She said that it was extremely close to Albania. Essentially I’d appreciate it if somebody could help inform me a bit more on where I come from and could give me the non biased history around Macedonia. Thank you!
