Great review. The pro 30 does have some adjustability in its legs as does all of the camp chef stoves. You can level them out easily with pulling the legs a little and tightening down the set screw. They also offer leg levelling kits you can replace the feet of the stove with screw based feet. They all work great.

my 22 inch Southwest disk showed up yesterday. i got one with legs so i can use it over a campfire. it also fits perfectly in my 28 inch fire pit. so if i want to cook over a fire in a place i cant make a ground fire i can do that. it also works great on the propane burner for my deep fryer. the Southwest Disk is worth every penny and then some! i was so excited when it got here yesterday. i already had a bunch of meals planned for cooking on the disk. i made some awesome Chicken street tacos last night for dinner.

@@Woodlandbill Hello. I actually scraped the idea of using a skottle as I travel (off road overlanding) alone, with my dog, and realized that I wouldn't use it very often. However, I researched how to assemble one and found an assembly that I would use if I were to put one together. Search for "Dirt and Fire" KZbin channel and he has an excellent and inexpensive solution. The title of his vid is "Easy DIY Skottle". I actually already have the burner that he shows in the vid, so the additional parts would be very easy to purchase.

Awesome!... on getting the 18" Madrid. They are so slick and so fun to cook on. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we are enjoying ours. [ For those interested in purchasing from Southwest Disk, here's what we've seen on SouthwestDisk.com in the past month... The inventory of Discadas seems to fluctuate often. When we ordered ours, most discs were in stock. As we were uploading our Discada review video (I think on a Sunday), most of their discs were out of stock. Today is the first time the 18" Madrid has been in stock when we have looked at their website. The folks at Southwest Disk are very responsive to email. When we asked when an out of stock item would be available (a dome lid), they were quick to answer the email and the item was in stock in the time frame they said it would be. ]

@wobblyotteroutdoors
@wobblyotteroutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Looks like a Blackstone Griddle is flat and comes attached to its gas burner(s) as one unit. The Skottle and Southwest Disks are not permanently attached to a burner and have a gentle bowl shape. The Southwest Disks can be used over a wood or charcoal fire as well. Thank you for the kind words about our videos.

Hey could you comment on the pack ability and burner choice? the Tembo tusk has the best packable design, but are the others much bulkier? The other thing is I worry about the 10k btu burner not being enough, or the 65k burning being too much. And the added headache of having to carry a 5-20lb propane tank too. All for car camping, I love to cook and want a good hot seat on my steaks
@wobblyotteroutdoors
@wobblyotteroutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Fred. Thank you for watching and for the questions. After giving your question a good bit of thought, here are some talking points that will hopefully apply to your questions and concerns. PACKABILITY AND BULKINESS If your primary concern is size and weight, go with the Skottle. LOVE OF COOKING If your primary focus is love of cooking, go with a Discada disk. It has a much slicker surface and is a dream on which to cook. They have a variety of sizes: 18, 20, 22 and 24-inches. BURNER SELECTION *Skottle: The Skottle is designed to have the 10K BTU burner mounted directly under and against its cooking disk. It does an acceptable job of providing a good amount of heat. *Southwest Disk: I agree that a 65K BTU burner is a little on the heavy side on the top end. However, you can control the amount of flame/heat using the regulator. DECISIONS, DECISIONS Because you love to cook, while still minimizing bulk, for your consideration I suggest an 18-inch Discada disc and the portable, height-adjustable burner, both by Southwest Disc.
@wobblyotteroutdoors
@wobblyotteroutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Fred... Our observation is that the product stock at Southwest Disk is quite active and availability changes from day to day. We have also experienced that they are very responsive to email inquiries. When there was an item we wanted that wasn't in stock at the moment, we let them know by email and they replied letting us know when that item would be back in stock - and it was.
@fmmrz5

Thanks so much! Your response echos each of the thoughts I was having. I really like something about each of them. Love the simplicity of the Scottle, the burner can use propane or butane, and the bags but don’t like the burner size and price. Love the handles, surface, and burner of the southwest disk, but don’t love that there isn’t a simple bag solution and that I have to carry a larger propane tank, and is bulkier. And I love the table and btu rating of the camp chef stove but don’t like the weight and size. Decisions for sure. Might have to let this one sit for a few weeks. I think I just will bite the bullet on the scottle but will always wish for more btu’s to get it really screaming hot for true wok type cooking One other quick thing. On the scottle, you can see the rings on the cooking surface from the leg post welds, can you feel that on top too?

discada cooking has been very popular in border area of Tijuana/San Diego for a long...long time Discada means disc cooking in Spanish.....I had mine made in a black Smith shop in Tijuana about 25 year ago out of a plow disc....use the hell out of it....its22 inches round and deep enough to fry chicken or anything with out spilling oil and mine has handles....mine has 12 inch legs and I can put directly over a camp fire when I go camping....discada is way better in my opinion because it is deeper....I also had a stainless steel lid fabricated for it.
