Simple trick to make the teeth look more organic when you are making anything with teeth and foam. Use foam clay for your gums but stick the teeth in straight away before setting it. when you push the teeth it, it creates a natural gum shape
@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
Foam clay can become brittle over time I wouldn’t recommend any protruding teeth or spikes to be directly glued into foam clay. That’s why you will always see me glue teeth, spikes, or bones directly to eva foam and sculpt foam clay around. Also foam clay will contract while moisture wicks out so the holes would end up smaller than the teeth after it dried But a method like that would work well with a material like monster clay, super sculpy, or apoxie sculpt

Hello - I have been following your instructions, and my masks are looking great (so far)! Question for you though - can I use Modge Podge for the priming step instead of Plasti Dip? I am concerned that the clay foam will be ruined using as Modge Podge is water based. THANK YOU!
@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend mod podge just because if your foam was to ever get squashed or creased you can’t get the creases out. If you Plasti and it creases you can hit it with a heat gun and it will pop back. And yes being water based could be an issue

Is there an alternative to plastidip? I usually use foam prop specific sealer or mod podge as it’s easier to find here, not sure that will work on foam clay though :/
@SKSProps9 ай бұрын
I use plasti dip, creature cast, or flexbond. Bounce and mod podge can be used I’m just not a fan because they are water soluble and don’t hold up near as well. You also can’t get rid of wrinkles in the foam with heat if you use these products . But if it’s all you have then it’s all you have.

@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
The only thing o can think of is the white spray having an issue with an internal mixture. Otherwise Plasti dip and acrylics are inert they shouldn’t reactivate a sprays paint. And yes I just use tap water for my washes

It is absolutely stunning Steve! The organic shape and build process detail, the colours and all of the layers... One question on the epoxy though: do you use it only for the gloss or to act as a protector as well, once hardened? What is the difference versus a gloss varnish just for "glossiness" and what is the difference in protection versus the super glue technique that you use to protect sword tips?
@SKSProps2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The epoxy will also act as a protector but it is also a little flexible where a gloss varnish can eventually yellow and become brittle. and vs super glue the epoxy doesn't take paint very well because of the smooth surface where you can still paint over the superglue
