The fact you can take the wager and just teleport to be in the path is one of the reasons I hate this game. Once you take it you should have to live with where you are, just like you can't teleport in specific events, should be the same here.

Wouldn't work for a number of reasons. The first is that you have to join the wager immediately as soon as it starts, because most of the times it gets full in seconds. So you don't have time to decide where you want to fast travel before joining. Then, it would just be a race, with the fastest ship, Brigantine, being the only viable option to use. Being able to fast travel allows people to use all the other slower ships.
