Skull of the Cyclops is a fun little trial, worthy of any masterful thief! A quick demo of how a small trial like this can highlight some of the core mechanics in the game and really help new players and GMs alike learn how to play ICRPG.

Using the standard-easy-hard card and then the timer die is a great pairing to model great GMing in this case

This trial was the first thing I ever ran. Two PCs entered, one PC left.

I much prefer the concept of strikes in EZD6 over hearts that represent 10 HP. A strike is easier to implement than maths with hearts.

Yes! Strikes are a great improvement by DM Scotty. He an Hank are good friends and have influenced and worked with each other over the years, most recently with EZD6 which Hank has said is what he wishes Viking Death Squad had 😮

For sure. I’ve haven’t played around too much with strikes/hits other than for big bad features occasionally. There’s just something nostalgic about the hearts for me, but I do agree that strikes would be easier to track.

@@KanesKiln In EZD6 strikes are simply a drastic lowering of HP and weapon damage. PCs start have 3 strikes, PCs typically hit for one strike e.g. 1 HP with explosive crits a possibility. There are no differences between weapons, which may lack 'verisimilitude' for some but streamlines play speed. All monsters suitably have their strikes and strike damage aligned appropriately. EZD6 is a fantastic system, even if you don't play it, the ideas it contains are really great.

I get the rock throw is a classic by now but, wouldn't the usual reaction be to become alert, ready your weapons and check the area making it even more difficult to sneak in?

Awesome video! I love these videos showing small trials. How do you come up with them? My copy of ICRPG only has Grey Hill Inferno.

Thanks! And this particular trial came from the CORE book (2e). Sounds like you have Master Edition. But they're actually really easy to make. Just think of about three scenes and boil it down into one main obstacle and one main goal that can feasibly be accomplished in a round or two. Makes for great practice on the LOG method :D
