Had a chance to shoot both the new and the old P226. While the railed version has the advantage for flash light or laser I prefer old school German P226.

I have WG P226 that I purchased in the mid-eighties. I just replaced the X-ray sights and now want to upgrade to a SRT. Interestingly, mine has a smooth trigger face. Thanks for the great video!

Great video. Other differences include the slides being manufactured with stamped steel vs billet stainless. This, from other owners, means that parts will need to be replaced over the course of 5k or more rounds vs simply springs in the modern 226.

I’ve owned one since 1994 it’s been a gem 💎. Not sure when it was made but it’s definitely over 30 years old. Department issued.

Very interesting and well done production values. I'm a big Sig fan, but was not familiar with these models. Good shooting!

Wish I had a German 226. I have a MK25 that has night sights and I put the SRT trigger kit in but it could use some better grips (plastic). I also have a 226 Extreme that came factory with night sights, SRT trigger and nice G10 grips and it needs nothing else. My only German SIG is a P220 that looks very much like your German 226. All are excellent high quality pistols that I prefer over my tupperware.

A P226 I serial dated to 1990 has a different takedown lever. It doesn't have the raised stud/ledge at the bottom, just horizontal serrations. It's a tiny bit harder to strip because of this.

Good video my friend. I recently picked up a West German Two Tone and it shoots softer than my 226 Legion. Definitely my new favorite pistol. Subbed 👍🏻

My eyes are going too. Sad part of aging! Can you possibly compare triggers...srt especially with single action, and if there's any creep. Trigger is a big part of keeping gun or to letting it go perhaps.

I have a mk25, but it has always been said that the German gun is more precise, it may be a matter of coatings of mk25.

I do not actually own a Sig but I have the GSG 22;r Firefly that used to be the Sig Mosquito and it is an awesome weapon. I would pick Sig over Glock or any gun.

Please answer this if you can. Will a West German slide fit on a newer P226 frame while using a newer production barrel and newer recoil spring & guide rod ??? So basically could you just take your Mark 25 and toss its original slide to the side and then mate your West German slide to the gun while using all pre-existing parts and run it that way or no?
@SkullCrushInc6 ай бұрын
I don’t know. Never tried it. I might take a look next time I take them out.

Any idea if both guns have MIM parts? I'm assuming they do. Just curious. As with all SIG guns...they are "production guns" so....i'd be surprised to find out any of them use no MIm parts and just forged e.g. the P Series Legionguns or the MK25....

I’ve always found the e2 grips to absolutely essential for the p226. I’m 6’2 and have very large hands and even still I find the stock p226 grips to be obnoxiously thick. Very interesting video though! Guess I want to add a west German model to the collection now..
@davidr8467 Жыл бұрын
All about personal preference. Every Sig I've bought with E2 grips, I've removed them so find them very unessential. Much prefer the full size grips and yes I have large hands.
