Skullgirls Mobile - Newbie Guide Ep. 6: Combat Basics

Some side notes:
1.) Common unsafe moves are mentioned in the video, not necessarily all of them. You're bound to discover some moves not in the video that you can punish.
2.)I purposely simplified the explanations on punishing as much as I can, which is why there was no mention of things like block stun, hit stun and specific frame data. Might be a hot take, but I do not think this is a necessary discussion in a newbie guide.
3.) Yes, it's gigan arm sweep.. i mean, they're both arms and they're both big yall need to give me a break lmao

Lil advice for players: Always backdash b4 blocking if the first opponent(the opponent that appears at the intro) is Cerebella She have a mid ranged command grab special move,which is unbreakable called Merry Go Rilla Most times if a Cerebella have one of em they will instantly use it right after battle starts You cant doubt if someone's Cerebella have MGR or not,but it is always safe and neccessary if you backdash when encountering her

Tip for beginners after u finish a combo and the opponent gets up they will most likely do a throw break so just do a throw break for safety and if they dont then u get a free throw break in them :)

There's this constant pattern for A. I. Is when you corner them by closing in them via multiple throw breaks. Works best with Cerebella. Most A. I. will 100% use a throw when you're blocking close to them.

Have to say, started playing this game a couple months ago. Basic gameplay recordings on progress. But watching this video, (among others, of course.) While first starting out. This one definitely improved my gameplay the most. Adding much of my own spins to afterwards. Mastering throw breaks, for sure, is a great, great reflex to master to move up quickly. Very nice video, it's always good to revise the basics. The only thing I would consider to add is mentioning the burst moves which allows you to escape from some combos. Not infalible but with practice and luck you could get out of some nasty combos

I actually thought about it, but honestly in PVE burst feels like a very low priority move on offense. If you play properly, it will very often end up as a dead move, which wastes a precious move slot. But if my video took into account PVP, I absolutely would have included it.

throw breaks for low reflex nerds like me: cpus always use like 3 attacks, so whenever something happens to your block, swipe for the guard break a little after. if the opponent was attacking, you be stuck blocking. if the opponent was grabbing, you'll break.

Heya dude nice content, We really need more guides like these in SGM :) Can you make a guide on how to progress fast and efficiently? By progressing I mean getting relics quickly and build up multiple fighters quickly to make a strong fighter pool. I see so many people have a ton of strong fighters yet I only have a few strong fighters... I’d also love to see a video on the most efficient way to spend theonite and canopy coins, as well as how to get the specific cards you want in the most efficient way. tbh for throw breaking just block and for ai when you block they mostly throw but what i do is if they do someting like any animation and then i swipe up but its mostly bad since it might think i throw but i can alwase just slide to them also there alot of time to swipe up the more you do it

you forgot something about the forward swipe. The first hit is actually safe, only the second forward swipe is unsafe. The thing about throws, most of them are easy. I get hit by Squigly's throw all the time because her throw animation is pretty quick in comparison to everyone elses. Here's a question for you, how in the fuck do you deal with unblockable bbs? They're so cheap. You block an attack, and you're still just fucked cuz they'll still hit. The fact you cannot jump doesn't help, and the blockstun on all attacks is too much to try and backdash out of them.
