What he says about Native Americans keeping dogs for food and sharing the meal with guests is true. My grandfather had one such experience and a young man growing up in Iowa during the Great Depression. Both he and his brother hunted near and traded with the local Indian reservation, and one time they were invited by the chief and his wife for dinner-which ended up being dog-meat stew.

I fully support coyote hunting, but something just doesn't feel good about seeing any canines get killed. I've killed 2-3 harassing coyotes in my time and genuinely hated it every time. Makes me really uncomfortable for some reason. Probably because I love dogs so much.

Same here. I'm a dog person and for that reason it feels wrong to kill them. But deer hunting is more important to me and wolfs and coyotes kill more deer then hunters....

What helped me get over killing coyotes was a video I watched of some coyote hunters being hired to kill coyotes on a farm. The coyotes had snuck in and killed a mama cow who was giving birth then they dragged off the baby cow and killed it too. After that I say f*ck coyotes.
@useryggfdcc

@@Pandamonium626 I understand but these are wild animals. Up north in Canada moose get killed in the most brutal ways by wolfs....but that is not seen by humans. Trust me, humans are much more brutal and savage.

Eastern coyotes are 10% domestic dog so its not weird to feel uncomfortable about it. Personally I don't have an issue shooting foxes or coyotes. But I get it. Having skinned a few of these critters as a fur trapper and predator hunter id be inclined to look elsewhere for meat.

Damn you javelinas!!!! A pack ruined our campsite when I was a kid on a campout. A pack came charging in we all jumped into the bed of the pick ups or up in the trees. They tore up our tents, gear, and food. After they left, we packed up and came home.

I ate coyote in 1979 on a primitive Trek in the Shawnee National forest of Illinois. A group of 7 of spent 5 days living off of the game we could harvest with our flintlock rifles. The only food we brought was some parched corn . We had a few squirrels. Not enough. I shot a coyote . Stewed, chewy, but not bad. Then one of the guys brought in a small White tail Doe, We ate that critter to the hoof in two days.
