Took me a while to learn this bass line by ear because of its strange tuning and that. But I got it down and I was so happy when I could play it all the way through clean. Such a legendary song, the song of my teen years.

Big. big tune. Absolutely perfect. I always used to think about how cool a badass black woman singing in a metal band would be. Got it with this group and this song is them performing at the top of their game

Look up a band called Mother's finest to see another fine example of a hard rock band fronted by a black woman. That singer, Joyce 'Baby Jean' Kennedy has a voice very similar to Chaka Khan's.

I wouldn't call Skunk Anansie metal, bug I get your point. Skunk Anansie and Guano Apes were such good bands in late 90's.

Why do I sense, benevolence You stand tall at my great expense Thick words of gratitude, what a price to pay Stuck in my throat, I sell every word I say But I don't want your charity Twisting me round I don't want your charity Keeping me down Why does your world keep burying Gorging much deeper, than it's ever been Rubbing still harder, salt on my hurt Licking my burns while I grovel in your dirt But I don't want your charity Twisting me round I don't want your charity Keeping me down You pity me with your tasteless gestures Gratitude for kind But your bludgeoned, intentioned objectives Are screwing with my mind, screwing with my mind But I don't want your charity Twisting me round I don't want your charity Keeping me down But I don't want your charity Twisting me round I don't want your charity Keeping me down...

SKUNK ANANSIE - PARANOID & SUNBURNT Skunk Anansie are a British rock band whose members include Skin (lead vocals, guitar), Cass (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Ace (guitar, backing vocals) and Mark Richardson (drums and percussion). Skunk Anansie formed in 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name "Skunk Anansie" is taken from Akan folk tales of Anansi the spider-man of Ghana, with "Skunk" added to "make the name nastier". They have released six studio albums: Paranoid & Sunburnt (1995), Stoosh (1996), Post Orgasmic Chill (1999), Wonderlustre (2010), Black Traffic (2012) and Anarchytecture (2016); one compilation album, Smashes and Trashes (2009); and several hit singles, including "Charity", "Hedonism", "Selling Jesus" and "Weak". They are often grouped as part of the Britrock movement, as opposed to the contemporary Britpop of their early years due to their overall harder sound. The band, in 2004, was named as one of the most successful UK chart acts between 1952 and 2003 by the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums, with a total of 142 weeks on both the singles and album charts ranking them at No. 491. Skunk Anansie have sold 5 million records. Influences: Skin has described Skunk Anansie as a "clit-rock" group, which Allmusic clarifies as "an amalgam of heavy metal and black feminist rage". Members Skin and Ace have mentioned the Sex Pistols, Blondie, dub, reggae, electronica, hip-hop and world music as significant influences. Other media: The band also covered The Stooges' song "Search and Destroy" specifically for the soundtrack of Zack Snyder's film Sucker Punch, released on 25 March 2011. The soundtrack also includes a Skunk Anansie remix of the song "Army of Me" by Björk. Band members: Deborah "Skin" Dyer - lead vocals, guitar, theremin, piano, keyboards (1994-2001; 2009-present), Martin "Ace" Kent - guitar, backing vocals (1994-2001; 2009-present), Richard "Cass" Lewis - bass, guitar, backing vocals (1994-2001; 2009-present), Mark Richardson - drums, percussion, backing vocals (1995-2001; 2009-present), Former members: Robbie France - drums, percussion (1994-1995; died 2012), Touring members: Erika Footman - keyboards, backing vocals. And I have the great, great honor of having five Skunk Anansie CD-albums in my discography, led by the charismatic vocalist and songwriter, Skin. Therefore, I have a unit of the CD-Album PARANOID & SUNBURNT (1995), a unit of the second studio CD-Album, and perhaps, their greatest commercial success, STOOSH (1996), I also have the third studio CD-Album, my favourite, POST ORGASMIC CHILL (1999), two units. And finally, the CD-Album of the greatest hits collection, SMASHES AND TRASHES, released in 2009, which includes three new songs and two live acoustic songs. Altogether there are five CD-albums, including the second copy of the CD-Album POST ORGASMIC CHILL (1999). Paranoid & Sunburnt is the debut studio album by British rock band Skunk Anansie, first released in 1995 via One Little Indian Records. It was re-released in 2005 with a DVD featuring the videos to the singles. This album was recorded with the band's original drummer, Robbie France, but he is not featured on the cover. The album, featuring a mix of controversial protest songs (mainly about politics and religion), peaked at number 8 in the UK Albums Chart. Singles: Five singles were taken from Paranoid & Sunburnt, four of which were commercially released. Single: "Little Baby Swastikkka" was the first release from the album. It was not a commercial release, however. It was a radio single and only 2,000 copies were pressed. "Selling Jesus" was the first commercial single release from the album. Released in March 1995, it peaked at No. 46 in the UK Singles Chart. It also appeared on the Strange Days soundtrack. "I Can Dream" was the follow-up single, released in June 1995, and charted at No. 41. "Charity" was the third single, released in August 1995, and charted at No. 40. It was re-released in 1996 (see below). "Weak" was the fourth single, released in January 1996, and charted at No. 20. "Charity" was re-released in April 1996 and its peak chart position was higher than the original release. It peaked at No. 20. Personnel: Technical: Andy Wallace - mixing, Donald Christie - photography. Charts: Weekly charts: Weekly chart performance for Paranoid & Sunburnt: Chart (1995-1996) Peak position: Australian Albums (ARIA) 61, Austrian Albums (Ö3 Austria) 19, Belgian Albums (Ultratop Flanders) 8, Belgian Albums (Ultratop Wallonia) 24, Dutch Albums (Album Top 100) 22, German Albums (Offizielle Top 100) 37, Norwegian Albums (VG-lista) 34, Scottish Albums (OCC) 14, Swedish Albums (Sverigetopplistan) 7, UK Albums (OCC) 8. Year-end charts: Year-end chart performance for Paranoid & Sunburnt: Chart (1996) Position: UK Albums (OCC) 65, Certifications: Certifications for Paranoid & Sunburnt: Region Certification Certified units/sales: Netherlands (NVPI), Platinum 100,000^ United Kingdom (BPI) Platinum 300,000^, ^ Shipments figures based on certification alone.
