Many believe that it was NSH since if you rescue Moon the pearl you start with states that NSH was responsible for saving Moon, which means that NSH was in charge of The Hunter delivering the pearl yadayada

The story was that an Iterator called No Significant Harassment (NSH) sends Hunter (sick with Rot), with the Green Neuron Fly containing slag keys which revives LttM. Upon entering the Void Sea, Hunter cannot ascend, probably because of the sickness within him, and hence returns to NSH. Wherever Hunter permanently dies, the Rot will eventually overtake his body, resulting in a mobile Rot Cyst not found normally-Hunter Long Legs.

Hardly anyone's good enough at the game to make compelling content. Skurry is very good at it and still dies a lot. Someone would have to put a lot of hours into the game for relatively little content.

I`m trying to save LttM and ascend on the same playthrough right now. I think I understand now, why Skurry never did this run. UPD. I finally did it!! And I had 10 cycles left, so it wasn't that bad. Btw this is my route: Farm arrays->Islands->Chimney->Wall->5P->Exterior/Leg->Shaded->Shoreline->Subterrainian->VOID

@@FrostMoon_WoF_WarriorCats if you are going to play Rain World, I'd recommend you not to watch Skurry's playthroughs yet. You should play the game yourself first not to spoil the experience. I've made such a mistake and now I regret it (But I still had a good time playing RW Downpour, even knowing all the endings and plot twists)

I took the long way, but I too found it a lot better to go through Subterranean via Shoreline's terminal. Not sure why this guy didn't do LttM since Shoreline was only 3-4 cycles away from the wall, no tough karma lock able to ruin the run.

@@AeyakS they had to visit 1 more echo before going to Subterranean. In worst case scenario they would have to spend 5 additional cycles to get one from Shaded (if they died too many times in Underhang and Memory crypts) so they would reach Shoreline on cycle 7 with full karma. Going through Shoreline to Moon is relatively easy if you dont carry a pearl or a slugpup, but a way from Moon to Sub is a risky and it depends too much on luck (I almost failed my last Hunter run there). You also need karma 5 to go through the gate. So it was a bit risky for Skurry to visit Moon. Or they just didn't know about the Shoreline-Sub gateway)

The Perfect/Canonical Hunter Run is a fairly difficult thing to pull off. You need to: 1. Carry both the Pearl AND the Neuron. 2. Reach Pebbles. 3. Gather enough echoes for max karma. 4. Make your way to Moon to deliver the Neuron and Pearl. 5. Unless you can get under a certain number of cycles you then need to take the Shoreline->Subterranean Gate which can be tricky. 6. Make sure you have max karma by the end of Filtration System without running out of cycles.

Just did this with 1 cycle to spare I missed an echo thinking the game would end at moon. So I went from shorline, garbage, industrial, outskirts, farm arrays and got the final echo i needed in sub. was able to do all that with only 8 cycles left and didn't use a single karma flower (they dont spawn on hunter anymore i think) was insanely stressful and was so close to failure. felt great!

You don't need Max karma at the end of Filtration System though (if you have 10 levels of karma available to reach), as it's automatically promoted to max at depths

Some spoilers for Hunter not covered in the video: (and some as well from spearmaster and arti) Starving before you do echo collection cycles helps a ton, it gives you a lot more wiggle room and a lot less wasted cycles to bad spawn RNG. Hunter saving moon and then ascending is possible while still visiting Pebbles (mandatory) and collecting required echoes. Hunter is an unsung hero, made even more heartbreaking that Moon barely remembers them after getting partial memories restored later on. I think that most fascinating thing about Hunter is how and why NSH purposed them in the way they did. It seems like the rot tumor on their back is probably how they hold an extra spear, but to trust such an important mission (NSH and Moon are pals in the same way SRS and 5P are....or once were) to a slugcat with a limited lifespan that infinite subjective cycles wouldnt see through to the end in order to save their friend is incredibly risky. You could speculate that the rot, besides spear storage, is also where Hunter gains their extra strength and agility from, but I think NSH was playing 4D Chess. We know from some of Spearmaster's pearls and broadcasts the local iterator group was pretty much aware 5P had the rot, and 5P is....unusually sympathetic and kind to Hunter compared to all the other slugcats (I still think Arti and 5P are the best match, they're both just angry and bitter and therefore perfect for eachother). NSH knew from broadcast conversations with SRS that 5P physically assaulted Spearmaster and blew up their Overseer. I think NSH knew that 5P would have more empathy for the inevitably doomed struggles of a purposed messenger organism like Hunter. Instead of hurting and shunning Hunter as 5P did with Spearmaster, he would actually be of assistance to them, especially calculated since 5P would also be the most knowledgeable in how to at least manage symptoms of Rot. We also know from some Spearmaster broadcasts that SRS got the ideas for a purposed slugcat from NSH, and Spearmaster's campaign was the first in the timeline, well before Moon's can collapsed. NSH was no novice at making purposed scugs, unlike SRS - who seemed like Spearmaster was their first, and possibly only, purposed scug. All in all, the name "No Significant Harassment" is like a poetic and beautiful form of reverse-irony. They come off like a joker and a bit of a troll, but theyre probably been the biggest help to our local 2 iterators through their dealings, saving Moon's life, and giving 5P a taste of humility and perspective no other scug had.... (Well, we still dont know who Rivulet crossed paths with, still a fun mystery to this day). Hunter and NSH get a big o7, They're true heroes in Rainworld's bittersweet story.

I dunno about you. But when I got the game the first time, I just couldn't complete survivor. The game's hellishly unfair - which is, yes, the point. But after learning a little bit about the story and especially about Moon, I *had* to play again. And I did. So, I started from the beginning again. All alone. Just so I could go straight to Pebbles and steal his neurons. I carried those two fuckers the entire way to Moon. And after twenty total hours later and four ragequits down the drain, I FINALLY. *FINALLY* got the neurons to her. And basically called the run completed. That's all I wanted. The game's amazing, but without any real motivation, GOD, it can be insanely draining. But for Moon? I would probably do it all over again. x___x So, your question at the end? Would you do it all again for the satisfaction? Yeah. You totally would. Because that's what this little non-linear game does. It entrances you with a living world of near-limitless exploration among the decrepit ruins where only the deified-caretakers remain - A gentle story of gossip, friendship, hate and madness. And you, as the slugcat, do nothing more than roam, survive and flow along with the tide that is the ginormosity of this game's heart. I haven't felt such kinship with a character as I do with Looks to the Moon in a long while.

Damn. There's a path from shoreline to subterranean. On my first hunter route which i planned i went Farm arrays >> Sky Islands (echo #1) >> chimney canopy (echo #2) >> The wall (echo #3) >> FP (Ascension Karma reached) >> the wall >> the underhang >> the leg >> shaded citadel >> shoreline (gave neuron to moon) >> Subterranean >> Filtration system >> End with 13 cycles to spare. But that's probably because I reset 7 times

The Vulture Mask Is The Only Thing Missing From This Run. If You Had That, You Could With Far More Consistency Just Sprint Past Everything. Especially During The Cyan Lizard Hellscape That Is The Wall. You Would've Died Less, And Needed Far Less Technical Skill (And Luck) To Properly Beat Strawberry Cat. There's Even A Vulture Grub Close To The Very Start So You Could Just Get It There And Any Deaths Would Just Make You Reset. It Is So Often About The Choices You Don't Make, As The Choices You Do Make. Regardless, Very Few Men Can Ever Claim To Have Even Unlocked Hunter. Let Alone Get Them To Ascension. We May Be One Of Those Few Men. But, If Rain World Has Taught Me Anything (It Didn't I Knew This Before Ever Knowing What The Game Was About) Then It Would Simply Be. That There, Is Always Room For Improvement
