I am a student of Class 10 I was thinking about the conservation of mass and energy. We see that there is nothing like conservation of mass but conservation of energy exists. Why? I mean if E=mc^2 then if mass can be converted to energy the vice versa also should occur , hence there can't be anything like conservation of energy alone. The answer I recieved was that energy can't be converted into mass without any solid proof , but we see in decompostion reactions, the final mass is greater than inital mass and hence the mass defect is recovered from the energy supplied during the reaction , hence energy is getting converted to mass. Another example would be of feynman diagrams which show that energy can be converted back into mass containing particles (like electrons). I came to the conclusion that either there is nothing such as conservation of either (mass or energy) and that they are intermingled with all the other forces of nature or there is conservation of E/m (assuming speed of light is constant in for all directions and observers, which is also ironically proofless and considered axiomatic by Einstien's theory of relativity) while the theories contradict so. Kindly suggest where I am wrong or why I can be correct.
