Eleven years ago, I watched that video for the first time. Since then, I return to it from time to time and watch it with the same smile on my face as the first time.

Badass video pardner. I fell timber for Columbia for 7 years so I got to see, and appreciate heavy lift helicopters. Question...at 6:04 the video shows a guy sitting behind the pilot facing the tail rotor. He is surrounded by glass. What is his job?

I used the black flat plastic piece that comes in the display case when you buy the go pro. Drilled holes in it to match up with the inspection panel on the Pylon of the tail and bolted it on. I used the suction cup only in the cockpit shots. I used the roll bar mount for the gear leg and stinger shot and the bicycle seat post mount for the engine and hydraulic sled shot looking back. Just get creative but make sure its a solid mount. :)

Great video! What's the vapor blowing on the pilots at 3:38? Is that some sort of cabin AC? If so, why is it visible? Seems like I only see that in helicopter videos.

Yes I use the GoPro cameras. That shot at 0:18 is one of my favorite also. Made the crane look like a toy helicopter so I had the Crew Chief walk up and down the gear leg to give a little perspective. Thanks for watching im glad you enjoyed the video.

Really not an hour requirement to fly the Crane. Just need to be type rated in the crane to be PIC. There is a minimum hour requirement to be hired at Erickson. Have to have a check ride with the FAA to get your type rating. Need to know the helicopter inside and out to pass your type ride.
