Nice tip on getting those rivets out with the pneumatic chisel hammer
@heyitsmedouglasheyitsmedou13124 жыл бұрын
Hindsight 2020, there are some rivets that I’d leave installed so that there aren’t as many holes in the frame. I recently took off the factory spring mounts and bump stop brackets and ended up leaving the portion of the rivet that sits inside the frame in there. Just ground down the rivet heads, pounded off the bracket and then ground down the tiny portion of the rivet that was remaining. Video of that process coming soon.

Considering this kit over the PMF in my F350 CCLB on 38's. Would you recommend it over PMF? Haven't been able to find any concrete details, but looking at the design between the two, the PMF wouldn't really do much of a lift because the rear shackle sits up way higher. I'm looking to level out the rear with the front after having just done a 2.25" PMF RSK with X Code springs yielding approximately 4.5" of lift IIRC. I need around 2.5" of lift in the rear to even it out IIRC. It would be nice to eliminate as much lift block as possible, but still give myself some room to lower or raise it with custom lift blocks if I need to. Read I shouldn't go over the factory lift block height for safety concerns. Seems like the 2.5" Sky kit with 08+ F350 springs (43-1705) would get me there. Or maybe the 4" to eliminate the block all together.
@heyitsmedouglasheyitsmedou131221 күн бұрын
PMF is premium stuff and worth the money. I have used their products on a few of my trucks and can’t say a bad thing about them. The Sky’s kit worked fine for me and it was an upgrade. I’m sure their website and instructions have upgraded since I made that video and I would consider using their kit again. As far as your dilemma on front and rear lift heights, using a lift block is fine, in the rear. Get the front where you want it to sit first and then do the rear.

I did not. If you watch the entire video, you’ll see that I eventually take off the rear tires. I wasn’t trying to do a reverse shackle flip. The rear block, as of the making of that video, and possibly still, should not be used to get the amount of lift they were advertising. It’s not a big deal. I had to spend extra time installing everything and then figuring out that it would look dumb with the block and had to have a second set of custom made u blocks made but I’m not salty about it. I do have a 7.3 crew so the lift sizes may vary but I did the PMF 2.25 RSK with x codes which gave me right around 3-3.5" of lift in the front. Currently my rear is sitting about 1" lower so I would like to go up 1-2" max. From the sounds of it using the Sky 2.5" kit and no rear block I may get too much lift in the back? Also was curious why you went with this kit over the PMF rear kit? Appreciate your insight.
@heyitsmedouglasheyitsmedou13123 жыл бұрын
Yeah, unless Sky got their act together, don’t use the rear block for the suggested lift height they claim you are purchasing. I have my order receipt, spring info and personally did 100% of the work myself. Sky’s info was wrong, at the time at least, for the lift heights. PMF is top notch. I went with Sky bc, at the time, theirs appeared to be a little more substantial than PMF.

For sure that is true. But the weight and height difference is not anywhere close to the height of the block. You definitely do not need to use the block in this setup if you have a 4.5” rsk in front. It sits perfectly level now that everything has settled in the front and back and the bed is back on. When I put my bald eagle sculpture I hand carved from a 400 year old oak tree in the bed, it’s gonna be nose high.

@Akya21204 жыл бұрын
Not sure what that guy is on about... Anyway, I'm thinking about doing this as well. Looks like you used a heavy duty leaf pack, about an extra 1700lbs of spring on each side. The standard springs are 2 or 3 leaf packs and 2700lb per side instead of 4400. That's probably why you got so much lift out of it. What GM IFS are you talking about running? How doable is the swap? I'm guessing it hasn't been done before.

Not sure about the standard rear springs but I think they are what come on a normal F350. For the front, I am planning to eventually do an axle swap from an ‘05+ Ford so I can get coils and have disc brakes. That swap is pretty common but is still a good swap to do.
