Don't speak like a Fool. You're saying that MGR, NTR became Chief Ministers, so Chiranjeevi and Rajini will become CMs respectively during their time, that's the logic you says. At that time, Rohit was just a youngster around 24/25 yr old guy. And he was already a regular in the team with inconsistency. Rohit was fighting for a middle order spot at that time where around 3-4 slots were there and he ideally promoted as opener later to prove his worth in do-die situation. Samson is now 30yr old. And is not even regular in the team. Samson is fighting for a WK slot that's just 1 SLOT with 1 BackUp Slot in the squad and around 5-6 WKs are fighting for that slot. KL Rahul, Pant, Ishan Kishan, Samson himself, Jitesh in T20s, Bharat in Tests, Dhruv Jurel, and new guys like Abhishek Porel already in the selectors radar. And outside prospects like a young guy Kumar Kushagra is also there to catch-up. If you doesn't perform in the chances given, that's it. This is not new to Indian cricket. This competition is happening for Indian WK slot for the past 20 years. Previously it was Ajay Ratra, Dinesh Karthik, Naman Ojha, Parthiv Patel, MS Dhoni, W Saha, and Mahesh Rawat competed for a 1 Slot and no backup slots at that time. MS Dhoni captured his chances with both hands and solidified his spot. A great power hitter and all format player like Naman Ojha was not even given a chance and was given just 1-2 matches. That speaks the competition and challenge for Indian WK slot currently. You don't need to perform every match, Atleast give some confidence to selectors, captain and coach. Pant is the first choice WK for India. He's Selector's 1st choice WK for all formats. Though he's avg. in T20. He's given confidence with his batting in Tests, ODIs. He's proven game changer in Tests and proved many times. Gabba test itself is enough why he can get longer run. It's not about hitting 50 or 100 in each match or often. U just should not throw wicket like that and feel like a weak guy. Even Jitesh has created more impact than Samson in T20I, he's played 3 times lesser than Samson. It's about giving confidence to Selectors. Samson never gave that. If Ishan is not having any discipline issues, Samson is not even 3rd choice WK. Pant, Ishan / Rahul would have been there. But please don't say Pant deserves a longer run. Yes, Pant is a match-winner in Test format, but this is white-ball cricket. Don't mix formats. Pant should no longer be considered in the T20I format. Samson has never gotten a long run in T20Is like Pant. Ishan has gotten a run as well and his record is poor in T20Is. Samson should be given another series. Look at Pant's stats. 75 games avg 23 SR 127. No one has gotten so many opportunities. The biggest mistake we keep making is we confuse different formats. That should stop.
