You sir, are a god send! I was told by Sky when I signed up that I could use my own router, after waiting 10 days for the the DSL line to synced. After 10 days I tried my Draytek Vigor2710, only to be told using my own router wasn't supported! B*stards! Using this little Wireshark method has allowed me to get the username & password, and connect perfectly with my Draytek! Thank you so much!

Hi. Many thanks. Just ran this now, and discovered my user name and password. 3rd party router, sprang to life first time. Many thanks once again, very useful video - this really works.

Just done this on a brand new SR101 - so still works (details not being encrypted or otherwise hidden/disguised). Only comment that I would make is ignore (or at least it didn't work for me) the in-video suggestion of assigning a static IP to the PC side network card, just leave it in DHCP mode. I'm using Win7 64-bit, used the top/highest port on the router, made sure nothing else was connected/connecting either directly or wirelessly, and rather than unplug/re-plug, did a 15 second reset and found it straight away (after several previous methods/failed attempts). Thanks to KiltedJock for the original guide.

Many thanks for this. Your instructions were spot on. I had a minor problem migrating from O2 to SKY as I had forgotten that O2 use an unusual VPI/VCI and Mux combination but once I changed this from O2's LLC/0/101 to Sky's more standard VC/0/38 it all worked a treat.

Fabulous! Followed your demonstration (with help from *pause* !) and cracked it first time, so I'm now cooking on gas and about to use _any_ router my heart desires, on my SBB ISP. Cheers fella! (Googled forum explanations that overcomplicated the method, but your vid made it crystal clear!)

Decent video though a wee bit convoluted. No need to be wired to the router via any port, never mind being static. The router kicks out a full DHCP broadcast to LAN/WAN connections so a wifi adapter picks it up fine. And a quick udp.port == 67|| udp.port == 68 or bootp.option.type == 53 works as a decent filter. :)

And an even bigger thank you, because now I get to laugh back at my brother who said I had bought all the wrong equipment, and oh how he laughed. hahahahahaha awesome, thank you.

Frigging brilliant mate, thank you so much... UDP filter didn't work for me, it possibly because of Mac OSx ... but managed to filter out the DHCP by sorting by protocols and find the DHCP entries. and found my hard coded stupid adsl sky password. How idiotic is that they don't allow you to change your router.. the router they give is just utter crap.

No, I think your referring to the "pipe", which is after the @skydsl. I mean "forward slash (/)". For example it appears like this : dmd/lb+g7sJaRoC That's the string of letters after the "|=#"

Hi, I've followed this guide, however, when I filter the packets using udp.port == 68, I can see no references to DHCP. Any tips please?

Jason Stephenson intact there are no references to dhcp even without the filter applied.

One question: Do I need to use MAC address spoofing as well? I'd read somewhere that Sky authenticated via MAC address, so using my Draytek I changed the MAC to that of the SR101, however it didn't work as I wasn't supplying the username & password. I guess what they meant, was Sky use the MAC address as the username (MAC_ADDRESS@skydsl). Now I've used your method, can I change the Draytek MAC back to default?

KiltedJock1 any ideas if I would have problems with connection my sky on demand to a third party router via ethernet cable? ive seen on the forums a lot of people whos worked straight away and others who cant get it to work. if mine doesnt work when my router arrives on monday do you have any suggestions on what I can do? IE - connect both routers together?
@KiltedJock19 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren. I personally haven't had any issues and I'm on a different subnet to what sky use as their default. That said sky are getting worse as there was a sky update a few days ago to the main viewing unit and now my on demand connector is flaky.... I'm going to try a couple of powerline ethernet adapters. If this fails ill do as you say and possibly try and use the sky hub as a dumb connector to see if that makes any difference

I think maybe my way the password is encrypted so your way might be correct. Thing is I tried both methods but no success with either on my Belkin router. Using my method the password has about 23 characters in it with a "==" at the end, but using your method, the password has a "/" and "+" in it

Ta, I will collect the logs and email you? Used Cisco 13 months without a single reboot. It was an isolated event, but the moment I connect SKYs router back there were no further issues The MACs of the ATM0 and Dialer 1 are spoofed as usual.

I think it is easier to do a back up of the configuration from the sky router admin screen. The output is a .config file which is essentially a xml fil and can be opened in any text editor. then search for '@skydsl' in that and that should be it.

@Darkfire1610 жыл бұрын
If you have the router r102 from sky that is built in with vdsl, and then changed to another Vdsl router you should be fine. in my case I have the old Seagate and the new r102 and have done this for both witch are fixed to Sky, and had the same username n password, I cant see that being a problem. try some live forums, other may have had the same question
@DannyKeeley10 жыл бұрын
yeah i think when they put me on a fibre line it will just reconnect
@Darkfire1610 жыл бұрын
yea
@KiltedJock19 жыл бұрын
Danny Keeley hi dan, sorry i didnt reply earlier. techincally nothing will change, if you redo this guide, yes the username and password will change but its tied to the MAC address of the sky unit and they are expecting that to connect somewhere, so although the details might change either the new or old ones will likley authenticate to sky's service. just be careful from as darkfire said, your new router will need VDSL capability. like and share :D
@DannyKeeley9 жыл бұрын
Well now I have sky fibre pro, any vdsl router does not work - for example dont get tp link. I got the Asus DSL-AC68U. Upgrade the firmware and you can totally replace that shitty sky router for good. I had to use wireshark to get my new login.

well i've done this more than a few times with no hassle, i suggest a few things ( you never know) 1, no one knows if your password is randomly made using your MAC or is its a generic to maybe the device serial, but for the sake of clarity make sure your kit is on the latest firmware ( it may generate it differently). 2, have you tried it without the == ? 3, post them here ( block out your 1235@skydsl part, i.e show me xxxx@skydsl, password), once i advise you i will delete it
