Why isn't anyone Doing these covers anymore. New mounts and telescopes have close to no reviews and coverage

Who in the hell tried to clean that mirror, Who ever did that should be fired. Who ever that was just destroyed that mirror. Hard water minerals deposited on that mirror! that is a shame.
@Cruz4744 жыл бұрын
right what the heck lmao.
@tim71pos4 жыл бұрын
Could be dew condensation. The mirror is not destroyed. It could be properly cleaned which is very likely good enough. At the extreme it could be recoated which AP is more than capable of doing.

Nice,but why do you have to be rich to become an Amateur Astronomer these days? Oh, for the good old days when you made your own equipment and were very proud of your accomplishments! Hell, even joining an astronomy club costs more than many of the past home made telescopes and equipment! 😭
@Tricyklist8 жыл бұрын
While I feel your pain, it has never been cheaper to own astronomical equipment. The remarkable level of sophistication and the sheer quality of Astro-Physics equipment is never going to be at the budget end of the market. You still have the potential to build your own [perhaps] more humble equipment depending on your pocket, patience and your manual skills. Countless amateur astronomers still enjoy making their own equipment or assembling telescopes from commercial parts to their own tastes. The market for optical equipment and ATM parts is absolutely huge these days and dwarfs anything from previous decades in both range and quality. If even this is still beyond your pocket then I strongly suggest you seek out secondhand equipment and parts. There are still lots of people grinding and polishing their own optics and the online advice from skilled and advanced opticians has never been better. Cloudy Nights is an excellent resource for all amateur astronomers whatever their particular interests.

Well said. Pre-owned equipment in this hobby is an absolute bargain. "Oh,there's the usual specks of dust. That's why I'm selling it for 1/2 of what I paid". Do you think Roland offered a deep discount on this telescope? Look at that primary mirror - it's filthy :)

Holy secondary obstruction! Confirming the primary was cleaned with a dirty diaper lmao. Us Guitarist have a saying for over priced Guitars, we call them cork sniffer guitars because only Millionaires can afford them, that is a cork sniffer mount heh.

AP is over priced , even by the longest shot, most of WO, ST on a good SWEQ6 will produce good results. Its'not as though you will one day travel to those stars. They are just photos on your hard drive and that you can savor time and again by looking at it.

you have the right to your own opinion, that is a guarantee. This does not mean it is remotely correct. People that thrive to get the best equipment that is reliable, guaranteed and has some epic customer service from people that spent their lives in that company, will get 10micron, Software Bisque,AP, and others. When you claim that they are overpriced, i ask you to show how you came up with that conclusion and please back your claim with proof. Thanks

Apparently, you haven't priced out 10 Micron or Avalon mounts. Also, after owning your EQ6 mount for 10 years, who will you contact when it malfunctions? Where will you get replacement parts? Will there be someone who you can call? Can you do consistent 5 minute UNGUIDED subexposures with your EQ6 at 800mm focal length? Does the stated weight capacity actually cover imaging rigs? Are there easily available software packages that will allow you to use a complex pointing model? If you get into narrowband imaging, will you be able to consistently acquire 30 minute guided subs with round stars? I've owned an EQ6 and had to deal with all the idiosyncrasies of the mount. You start to accept problems and assume that oblong stars or poor guiding is not related to the mount. You blame the seeing, the polar alignment, etc..... until one day, you setup your AP900 mount and notice that the number of "keepers" in an imaging run just increased by 500 percent. Hm...

Hamza Touhami Correct...you "gets" what you pay for. Lots of cheap out that is a waste of money.
@Keyur-Suthar5 жыл бұрын
There is a reason a Ducati is expensive. Engineering and R&D not.to mention service costs a lot. We have mounts now with absolute encoders way cheaper than this, but would It work as efficiently and for as long as an AP. I doubt.
