I jump a dytter lol its super old haha it only shows one altitude (which the newer ones you can set different altitudes) but i love it ! it used to be my dads back in the days, then it was my brothers then it passed down to me :)

That’s what I was going to say. When I started jumping in 1994, dytters were why were available. And it was like Kleenex. “Are you jumping with a dytter?”

does it only sound an alarm or also tell you the altitude at that alarm

My AON2 only has one button! All settings are done on the computer by a cable.

Skydive Vibes it’s an inexpensive audible that works very well. No display, nothing fancy. It does have climb altitudes and high/low speed alarms. It’s the AON2 brilliant pebble.

I am not a skydiver but I think these alarms are a bad development. I have only done 3 static line jumps back in the late 80s. I think they are a bad development just as car lane departure systems are a bad development - if you need a lane departure warning system in a car you should not be driving. Just like if you need audible alarms when skydiving you have not got enough situational awareness to skydive safely and should not be skydiving. 04:09 "some of the most frequent jumpers don't really have the time to always fill out a logbook" - what the hell has happened to the sport? Seriously, it sounds like it's become the domain of incompetence. I am actually glad I am not jumping as it sounds like the sport is filled with idiots.

I am a pretty new skydiver, but think that what you're saying is rubbish. You don't need mirrors in your car, right? You could just always look out the back of your car, but it makes your life easier and provides safety, just like audible altimeters. It has nothing to do with incompetence, my home drop zone is one of the best in the area, and it's really full of tandems, so sometimes a tandem master literally jumps 4 loads after one another. That's not incompetent, that's just busy. And that is the main way the drop zone makes money. And lastly, yes skydiving has become more popular and accessible over the years, so that it's not an elite sport for the super rich.
