Skye Bridge to Portree

I don't know whether anyone will agree with me here, but the best things about visiting Skye is the bridge. prior to that the only access to the island was by boarding a Ferry. So much has changed since the bridge has been built, it has definitely brought more money onto the island, but it has brought more traffic. My wife panicked about getting fuel before we came to the island as this was an issue the last time she had visited The first part of the drive to Portree is a little bit boring but eventually the mountains loom up and the views remind us how small we are. For those who don't know, this video is here not just to show you what the journey is like to Portree, but to share the music that I have written and recorded. Those who don't like my music don't have to listen to it, they can either turn the sound off or move on. This week I released my new single , Nothing Stays The Same, so I have included it on this video so that it can be heard by people who don't necessarily have Amazon Music or iTunes. A happy new year to all and let us hope that it is better than the one that has gone.

Gavin Maxwell's (author of Ring of Bright Water) is on Eilean Bàn ('White Island'), the island between Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland and Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. I really enjoyed the area during a tour in 2019.

I have a distinct fear of bridges like this. I think I could compose myself to drive over it if I could pull in to view it just before crossing. Irrational, I know! Couldn't see any lay-bys at the start of your video.

I am not sure that there is one. The most spectacular bridge that I have crossed when I was driving to Tampa. The bridge looked as if it was going to heaven. The sound of the car we were driving sounded like a jet engine, it was very strange.

Do you travel around in a motor home or just by car. You cover a big area ,hence the reason for asking. Apart from your singing the scenery is so lovely as well

By car, it is a very very long drive. Susie scopes out the hotels, we tend to stop at hotel either in the borderlands or close to. Last time we stayed in a lovely restaurant with rooms near Moffet.
