I'm a huge Bond fan and I've seen a million montages of clips and soundbites from the series but this is well and truely the best I've ever seen. Puts the Academy Awards tribute to shame, and rightfully so.

Ugh, if they had shown this at the Oscars, then have Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig step out in tuxedos, it would have been one of the most epic Oscar moments in history. They were all still alive and well at the time. Such a missed opportunity.

That would be amazing, i have a cool idea for when the next bond actor gets revealed where they do the gun-barrel sequence but on stage and with an unevenly cut red curtain for the blood

"Made weak by time..." (Roger Moore, who stayed too long in the role) "...and fate..." (Timothy Dalton, who never got to do a 3rd Bond movie because of legal issues) ABSOLUTELY AWESOME EDITING. Kudos.
@thejesster11049 жыл бұрын
I always noticed how well edited it was, when Dalton's eyes lift up simultaneously with the word "fate", seemingly responding to the word but I hadn't thought of the context that he never got his planned next movie (most of us know that Dalton was originally going to be in GoldenEye but I also read somewhere that in around 1991 they were planning for a film called "Property of a Lady", also with Dalton. So realistically, he could have been in at least 2 more films) due to what some would call "fate". I also had noticed before "When worlds collide and days are dark" shows the first time we see Dalton as Bond, who as we know, was the "darkest" Ian Fleming faithful portrayal up until that point. Good job catching the Roger Moore "made weak by time" moment. I hadn't noticed that but I guess I could add that it's fitting how "heroic hearts" lines up with Lazenby in OHMSS/Tracy's death, that being easily one of the most emotional and heart full moments in the series!
@stuffedsheepshead9 жыл бұрын
Jesse Bond Indeed. It's upsetting that Dalton only got to do two films. Many people consider him to be a poor Bond for reasons lacking such nuance. They say he was bad because he was only in two movies; there is no correlation there. Of course the change from a lighthearted Roger Moore to a more serious and dark portrayal that Timothy Dalton brought, would've been jarring for some. Had Dalton got his third film, I'm sure many of the audience who disliked him initially would've warmed to him. He certainly put a great deal more effort into the role than his predecessors, reading all of the Fleming novels and trying to figure out who this man was. Shame.
@cornelisvandijkhuizen8 жыл бұрын
I'm very impressed you caught that, it's one of the more hardcore details in this cut. Not the only one, though.. Keep looking!

Bit late, but another I caught was "When the days are dark" and showing Dalton for the first time. Not exactly a hardcore detail, but ah well. XD
@oliverholmes-gunning53726 жыл бұрын
Brian Lindsey I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but another one I noticed was that "but strong in will" was superimposed over a shot of Craig, who keeps valiantly returning to the series despite feeling he is too old to keep up the necesary energy.

@needamuffin10 жыл бұрын
Matthew Williams Everyone assumes Christoph will be Blofeld. It's been confirmed that he will play Bond's ski instructor. I know that given the circumstances, keeping Blofeld a secret would be good, but I'm hopeful that that secret is kept for several more movies. You were aware of his presence in the first few movies, but you don't ever actually see him until a fair ways into the series. I would love to see a similar thing happen this time.
@needamuffin10 жыл бұрын
Havel Clyde A part of me feels this way too. The older movies were goo and all, but Casino Royale is my favorite movie of all time for a reason. It stripped away the corny dialog, the ridiculous gadgets, and left only pure, unadulterated Bond broken by what he had become. You can almost see it happening in real time with Vesper. One minute he's in love, the next "The job is done. The bitch is dead." I'm sure SPECTRE won't be as campy as Die Another Day and it will be handled well, but I certainly don't miss those aspects.
@stuffedsheepshead9 жыл бұрын
Caesar Sterling That's exactly my opinion. I was disappointed by Skyfall as it abandoned the idea of Bond being a cold blooded killer for the British government. It's like the producers want to return to the Brosnan/Moore era.

Not just a masterful technical achievement, but a well written summary of what Bond is really all about. Not fixating on his license to kill, but his will to stand up to evil, no matte the cost. The fact that six different men have been Bond adds to the storyline, emphasizes that he is a symbol, not just one man. Thank you for creating and posting this for all of us to enjoy.
