You-are-unbelievable 🤯😵 Seriously, Josh, what’s the plan sir? You must record more, but you have to get on a label or hook up with Sylvain Luc and Antoine Boyer. Haha. You’ll have to learn to speak French :) I’m suuuuuper excited for your future, and that I found you with 325 views!!! Mind blown permanently. I’ll support everything you do.

It's really beautiful guitar work but the thing I notice with younger musicians, especially at the virtuosic level that he's playing on, is a real disconnection between the lyrics and the story of that song and what he's doing? It's not a mechanical exercise. It's not really necessary to have such extended tension and release sequences with really extended harmonic process. If you listen to Bill Evans playing piano or Keith Jarrett or Ted Greene, the story is the first and primary thing which is essentially the main melody and the essential harmonic structure of this song. There's so much embellishment and harmonic extension that it's hard to hear the actual power of the song as it was written. I think Josh is an incredible guitar player with a lot of chops and an amazing approach to the instrument and maybe there's a component of not really having a connection to the stories, that a lot of these jazz standards tell, that make it sound more like a mechanical exercise than a piece of music that tells a great story. I would love to hear him do a version of this where it's just a song and some embellishment that is recognizable as a song. Not really a criticism per se, because I have a lot of respect for moving forward with jazz repertoire and innovation, but in this particular case I can't really hear the song very well because it's Just too covered by all the other stuff that's going on. And I'm not saying that I don't like complication or harmonic complexity or improvisation I'm just saying that it doesn't seem very connected to the story of the song of Skylark. Just my two cents…

Dexterity is a young mans game. Even in my 30s i feel the sharpness fading. I've seen my father change from a man my age to an OAP. At a point you fail to be capable of implimenting the knowledge you've gathered with age. That's when he should start teaching and try to find a protégé to stand on his shoulders and take it another step.
