I love it how Qatar's Energy Minister is schooling this guy in pragmatic thinking about such matters. The interviewer seems baffled by this guy's eloquence and command of what he's saying, in English. Clearly, a highly educated and talented politician here. But more to the point, a different perspective is being offered, one that doesn't fit the cliche of Arab nations from the "metro elites."

Because of Western hypocrisy. Canada and America are lawless, totally corrupt, industrial penal colonies. Poor and criminals flooded in here, multiplied, passed on their lies and tricks from generation to generation and gradually took over to the point where evil seems totally normal here and is an accepted way of life, permeating the culture from top to bottom. It mosty ruined things for the many (fewer now) good people in the West. Maybe it can be fixed, but maybe not before Russia nukes us. Russia will probably win.

The UK, like many other countries, haven’t been investing in their infrastructure. It always takes a crisis for budgets to be reallocated. Covid caused relocation to NHS and PPE and vaccines. Now the energy crisis will reallocate funds back over to energy and energy infrastructure needs. Many EU countries were underspending on military security. Now the Ukraine war has caused budget reallocations back towards updating and increasing military security spending. It always takes a crisis.

True. But not the full story. They went negative because of two main reasons. The pandemic and reduce demand, and 2, a raging oversupply because Saudi Arabia and Russia played a game of Chicken - with both countries producing as much as they could, and refusing to back off. @Bercilak de hautdesert they can choose to invest elsewhere, which own British company like BP and Shell are doing. Investing in Africa and Asia because they are not 100% sure what the UK wants. Just like UK oil and Gas, which was blocked by Surrey council for productions, now they decided to focus and invest in Turkey instead of UK. So yes Qatar don't have to invest in the UK as they are already super oil rich country. But now they doing it probably for them to allay with the UK so to they can have security as they getting more pressure elsewhere such as Saudi Arabia.

He certainly could do a better job running the UK cabinet alone, given all of the shenanigans and mismanagement we see lately on part of the UK government. When can the UK get people of such calibre to lead us out of this circus we have been thrown into lately .....

Lets work it out shall we: The Crown Estate is due to make £9 billion over 10 years from just renting out the seabed it owns for windfarms. The Queen negotiated a direct 25% cut of that for herself from George Osborne in 2012. So before a windfarm is even built it is costing the electricity bill payer £9 billion for just seabed rental, who knows how much building the actual windturbines & associated infrastructure is going to cost on top of that......That is why electricitybills are going through the roof.

why allow ourselves to be held hostage by OPEC? we're all happy with the arrangement until a challenging situation erupts, and then we realize we're beholden to a very small group that sets the prices that fuel our societys.
