Post Office Inquiry: Former Post Office boss Paula Vennells to give evidence

Paula Vennells, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Post Office Ltd, is set to give evidence on Wednesday.
Ms Vennells was at the helm of the government-owned body during the key Horizon operating years of 2012 to 2019.

The failure of aspects of the British ruling class is exhausting. She and all her Post Office executives. The drug companies, NHS leaders and civil servants for the blood scandel. As expected, at the instance of virtually every question, Ms Vennals seems to have had an incredible loss of memory. I doubt that there is one person who finds it possible to comprehend how a CEO, taking home £718,000 per annum, can be considered able to qualify for the post. Or is the salary judged on the venal capability of the applicant?

If this enquiry doesn't find the right people culpable of AT LEAST negligence, with substantial financial penalties in civil law... But really the obfuscation aka smokescreen by the management for a DECADE clearly ruined dozens of lives and cost the country millions of pounds. So this must surely be a criminal act on multiple counts. In just the same way as causing death by reckless driving. So serious that a custodial sentence is mandatory. Either way, Vennells and others need to be seen to pay the price. Otherwise justice will not be done, and the entire justice system will be seen as a failure. Watching the live feed from the enquiry, Vennells is far too blithe. The questioning is far too sanguine. It looks like a boring committee discussing trivia like a leaky roof. The emails from McCormack (?) in 2016(?) were stark - the fact she did not respond to that very specific challenge at that time is central to her utter failing to drive the process in the righteous direction. Why didn't she do the right thing?
