That’s me too. Arrived in Melbourne in 1974 as a 10year old. I love this country as I know how lucky we are to be living here. We came here out of desperation escaping from a harsh socialist government. My parents have always thought how lucky we are to be living here. I don't love the English bit of our history. It was child abuse and imprisonment of poor children who had no family members . To take them from England for trying to live without food and family , bringing them to a strange desolate unformiliour country and holding them on board ship prisons untill the jail was built. Convicts were Irish, English, Scottish, children and adults 1788-1868. Our ancestors irish language and cultural customs were banned under foreign British law. Seven years was the standard period of incarceration, for other's, longer. The Irish people's spent generations trying to stop this through their various Rebellions both in Ireland and here, it failed. As a result we're Aussie's.💙 I was a 70's child growing up with mate's of Italian, Arabic, part Australian Aboriginal (Dhurag Mob) and English ancestry. The aboriginal flag was first. Is there a way we all can have the flag to unite Australia. Why cant we get together with the indigenous people of Australia and design an Australian flag for all Australians.
