I'm a pommy bastard and absolutely love Australia. Been there twice so far. First for a month, the second time in '81 for a year on a working holiday. Did all the state and territory capitals, Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, The Barrier Reef and lots of places in between. Travelled on rail and coach passes staying at youth hostels. When not travelling, staying at my relatives in Melbourne. I met many people from many nationalities in my time there. We chatted, and from time to time I would travel parts of the way with fellow hostellers. In that year I had my horizons expanded and met many wonderful people. My experiences in Australia have been nothing short of wonderful. It saddens me when I hear all this stupidity surrounding Australia Day, it's just sowing the seeds of division. It's a virus damaging the cohesion of Australia. Then you have the damaging net zero policies, intent on covering the country with wind and solar factories. One of my abiding memories of Autralia, is the vast distances you can travel without seeing anyone or any signs of civilisation. Crossing The Nullarbor Plain by train, with no signs of civilisation for hours. That was so awe inspiring. The thought of all those spaces being destroyed by the push for renewables is nothing short of distressing. I want to get back to Australia, but I am apprehensive now about what I will find when I get there. 😟😟😟😟

January 26th is Australia Day, no question. All the naysayers are idiots. However, I find it hard to celebrate anything good about Australia. The politicians are weak and pathetic.
