‘An insurance policy’: Why JD Vance is a ‘great choice’ for Trump’s vice presidential pick

Sky News host James Morrow has explained why he thinks JD Vance is a “great” pick to be Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
“Let me throw my cards on the table. I think this was a great choice,” he said on Tuesday night.
“Vance ... acts as an insurance policy - if you take down Trump, you’ll get the same, but worse, and in the body of someone who is right now only 39 years old.
“That age, by the way, is fascinating too ... it shows the huge generational difference here.”

She checks all the boxes: female (✔); Hispanic (✔); 2A (✔); staunch conservative (✔); Right to Life (✔). Then I would give her one (1) task and one (1) task only.......have her go to EVERY Hispanic community in both Red States and Blue States and listen to the people And after she had listened, then I would have her talk and help them realize that the Hispanic Community Nationwide is (actually) very Matriarchal and Conservative by their very nature and cultural heritage, and have 60 - 75% of the Hispanic community voting Republican into the next century. Former President Trump should've chosen Louisiana Senator John Kennedy (yes, he's a Republican) or Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan as his running mate. Both are brilliant, articulate, rock solid conservatives and very qualified to become President in 2028. I agree that Rubio, Haley and Bergum would've been bad choices, but Vance is nowhere near the firebrand that both Kennedy and Jordan are. Kennedy would appeal to Georgia (a must-win state) moderates because he's in their neck of the woods, and Jordan would bring the same Rust Belt appeal that Vance will (they're both from Ohio). I think Mr. Trump missed a great opportunity here.

Same here. I think back to Reagan-Bush in 1980 when Bush was attacking Reagan all the time and calling his economic philosophy "voodoo economics." They didn't like each other, but they made peace in order to unite the ticket and it worked out about as well as could be expected. But Bush never called Reagan a Nazi. Vance says he's changed his mind about Trump, but who knows if he has or if he's just saying that for political expediency?

@@Ken5244 I think Vance is ultimately okay for several reasons. He is young and very much I believe in the new republican side of the party along with Vivek Ramaswamy (they are in fact good friends I believe and classmates at Yale) as opposed to the old geriatrics like McConnell and Pence. He also started praising Trump as early as 2018 which was before he was even considered for the 2022 Senate race. I think the 2020 Election was a big litmus test for Republicans and one which the old guard like Pence, Romney, McConnell, Cheney, etc., failed- notably JD Vance was very much supportive of Trump during that time. There have been many moments- J6, the indictments, his conviction- where it would've been easy to try to distance himself and I think his loyalty has shown to be stuck through thick and thin.
