SkyReach Bushcat Conversion Training

I've wanted to fly the SkyReach Bushcat for a while, so I decided to do my familiarization training on the taildragger Bushcat at Johannesburg Flying Academy based at Panorama airfield, South Africa.

There's a few taillie Bushcats around here. 3 are being used for conservation, of which 2 was featured in a video here on the channel.

I like 1/3 runway rule. I usually set my minimums were mains must be off ground by midfield. And then see how she is climbing out. Worked great for my gyrocopter and airplane as well.

Agreed, it's very useful. Without it one might not realise early enough that the plane is eating up more runway than usual before rotation.

we actually do the flaps on ours with the right hand, which is actually a little easier. i'm yet to fly the butsitter version of the cat, ours is a trike.

Yeah I was briefed that I could do it that way around. But I didn't like the idea of taking my right hand off the stick in those critical stages of flight.

look at the gap between shoulders,not so squeezey eh!And the center joystick is the best,after flying the Jabiru and being apprehensive about it at first it's my favorite now,flap lever position needs redo.This aircraft is no longer available,someone pick the design up and manufacture in Asia to keep the economics viable please😀

Awkward stick/flaps handle setup there. But otherwise a nice looking plane.
